I’m here for eight weeks, and this was week one—well, the first five days or so. 😊

🎙️ A lot of us can earn money online…
but keeping it consistent? That’s the real challenge.

In my convo with Certified Financial Planner Anita Niefeldt (), she reminded me (and now, you) that if unpredictable income is predictable in your line of work, then it’s not a surprise. Plan for it.

💡Her tip? Create a savings account just to cover the lean months. If your summer months are slow, prep for that now by setting something aside every time you earn more than usual.

It’s one of many tips she shared in our conversation on how to build a financial plan that actually works for remote earners and digital nomads.

🎥 Full interview drops mid-month. Make sure you’re following so you don’t miss it!

How do you handle income ups and downs?👇

🥳 It’s Wednesday, August 6, and Jamaican Independence Day! 🇯🇲

Well… technically it’s still August 5 back in Jamaica, so I guess I’m early? Time zones are wild.

Good morning from Chiang Mai! 🇹🇭

Today’s vibe:
— Brunch first, obviously
— Dodge raindrops like it’s cardio
— A quiet visit to a couple of temples—just me, my thoughts, and the sound of bells in the breeze
— Write for my She’s Unbound newsletter Audience
— Maybe hop on YouTube live (no promises 😅)

The best part? I actually feel alive this morning. Might’ve finally shaken off jet lag. Fingers crossed. 🤞

PS: Want the behind-the-scenes, the real-time reflections, and what I don’t post anywhere else? Subscribe to She’s Unbound, my free biweekly newsletter. 🔗 Link in my bio!

The last time I was in Thailand 🇹🇭, I rang in the New Year on an island off the coast of Phuket, barefoot and blissed out. That was back in 2018, going into 2019.

But this photo?

That was from my very first trip to Thailand in June 2018. I had just floated out of a spa treatment at a boutique hotel in Chiang Mai and snapped this right after. Let’s just say… I was zen’d out and moisturized. 🥰

Back then, I spent just ten days in Chiang Mai. This time? I’m moving in (okay, just for two months, but still).

Tomorrow night I’m off to the airport to catch a red-eye from Houston. Two months of Thai food, mountains, massages, and mango sticky rice? Yes, please. 😝

👉 Follow me on YouTube (MarciaUnbound) and come along for this eight-week adventure!

I’ll be sharing stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and honest reflections as I settle into slow living in Chiang Mai.

Yes, I’m still going to Thailand.
No, I’m not ignoring the news.
Yes, I’ve done my research, registered with STEP, and double-checked my meds.

What I won’t do is let fear take the driver’s seat. 🧘🏾‍♀️✈️

I just wrote a personal article about how I assess safety before traveling or relocating abroad. If you’ve been second-guessing your dreams because the world feels heavy, this one’s for you.

I just saw a reel that reminded me that when I was a kid, I actually liked liver. Like, really liked it.

Same with chicken heart, gizzards, and yes… chicken feet soup. But I drew the line at fish head soup. Sorry, not for me!

I know some of y’all are clutching your pearls or looking for some ginger tea just reading this. 😆😜

Just a little intro to Jamaican food you don’t hear about on the travel shows.

No worries. There are American foods I don’t like: peanut butter, popcorn, and pizza was an acquired taste—unimaginable, I know.

Anyone else grow up loving the weird stuff? Or was I the only one at the table asking for seconds?

🙌 🥳 Y'all! I'm officially in countdown mode ✈️ ⏰

Just 🔟 days until I take off for my next big adventure: 8️⃣ weeks in Chiang Mai, Thailand! 🇹🇭

Earlier this year, I spent three and a half lively months in Mexico City, Mexico 🇲🇽. And if I were Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love, Mexico was definitely my “eat.” Let’s just say I did my part for Mexico City's food economy.

Now, with Chiang Mai up next, I guess this is my “pray” phase. If I come back zen and wearing loose linen, you’ll know why.

This trip is going to be extra special... and spiritual 🙏. I’ll be sharing my real, on-the-ground experiences as a black woman solo traveler exploring everything from night markets and temples to the realities of keeping my health in check abroad (autoimmune warrior here!)

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to live unbound and unbothered across continents, or just want to see if I survive spicy Thai food, now’s your chance.

💓 Here’s the big ask: If you haven’t already, would you follow my YouTube channel (link in the first comment)?

I’ll be posting regular video updates, live Q&As, and all those behind-the-scenes moments that just don’t make it into a newsletter. Plus, you'll help the algorithm boost the channel, so other women can see what’s possible.

🔟 days to takeoff! 🙌

If you want to follow along (and maybe laugh with me at my attempts to order coffee in Thai), hit that subscribe button now so you won’t miss a thing. And as always, thank you!

My article for Business Insider was picked up and published on MSN, (and AOL) too—three months ago, but I just saw it. 🥴

Grateful to have opportunities to share my voice and my story. 🙏

Just wrapped up a beautiful convo with Anita (), a financial strategist who brought clarity and heart to the table.

We talked about money, freedom, and what financial confidence really means when you’re building a new life abroad. The interview’s recorded and headed to my YouTube channel soon. I’m excited to share this one.

Make sure you’re subscribed to https://www.youtube.com/ on YouTube so you don’t miss it when it drops.

What do you actually need to thrive abroad?

Not what someone on YouTube said. Not what your old life told you. What you need.

In my latest newsletter, I shared a few questions that shook loose some of my own assumptions—and might do the same for you.

It’s not about duplicating your U.S. life in another country. It’s about creating a life that finally fits.

✨ Check out the screenshots in this post, then hit the link in the first comment to read the full article.

📌 It’s called “What Do You Actually Need to Thrive Abroad?” and it’s waiting for you.

And I’m curious… what did you think you’d need abroad that you later realized you didn’t?

Many of us dream of moving abroad to feel free.

But here’s a question that often gets skipped in the planning process: What does freedom actually mean to you?

Before the plane ticket. Before the visa research. Before the checklist.

Because your version of freedom might not look like anyone else’s, and you deserve a life that honors your definition, not someone else’s filtered highlight reel.

I wrote a piece about this recently. It’s short, reflective, and grounded in what I’ve learned after years of helping women plan and fund their dream lives abroad.
