It’s Saturday, August 16, 6:00 pm here in Chiang Mai 🇹🇭 (which means it’s 6:00 am back in Houston).

Yesterday, I treated myself to a two-hour facial. She did all the things, and wow, I didn’t realize how much my skin missed that kind of love. It’s been at least eight years (maybe closer to ten) since my last one. 😳

With my birthday just two weeks away, I figured a little early rejuvenation couldn’t hurt. 🥳

Oh, and I also tried Khao Kha Moo, Thai pork knuckle soup. 🥘 Verdict: surprisingly good. I think I like it.

What about you, what’s the last little indulgence you gave yourself? And would you be brave enough to try Khao Kha Moo? 📸 Selfie from a few days ago.

🥳 Chiang Mai is starting to feel like exactly what I came here for.

Two weeks in Chiang Mai 🪷

👉 Week one: lost to jet lag.
👉 Week two: a mix of Thai food, massages, local sights, and a few western comforts (read malls).

Next up: planning local adventures with a Thai friend, making time to connect with new friends, and visiting the Thai Traditional and Complementary Medicine Center for a little restoration and healing. 🙏🙃🧘

Ever feel like no matter how much you do, it’s still not enough?

In my recent interview with Rashidat ), she shared her powerful journey of unlearning scarcity mindset.

For her, it wasn’t just about money. It was about constantly proving herself. That endless cycle of doing more to feel “enough” kept her in a loop that never stopped moving.

Her breakthrough?

She stopped moving the finish line. She decided what “enough” looks like for her and leaned into it.

It’s a shift that matters for anyone trying to carve their own path, whether you’re starting a business, preparing to live abroad, or embracing nomadic life.

You can’t build the life you want if you’re stuck proving you deserve it.

I’m here for eight weeks, and this was week one—well, the first five days or so. 😊

🎙️ A lot of us can earn money online…
but keeping it consistent? That’s the real challenge.

In my convo with Certified Financial Planner Anita Niefeldt (), she reminded me (and now, you) that if unpredictable income is predictable in your line of work, then it’s not a surprise. Plan for it.

💡Her tip? Create a savings account just to cover the lean months. If your summer months are slow, prep for that now by setting something aside every time you earn more than usual.

It’s one of many tips she shared in our conversation on how to build a financial plan that actually works for remote earners and digital nomads.

🎥 Full interview drops mid-month. Make sure you’re following so you don’t miss it!

How do you handle income ups and downs?👇

🥳 It’s Wednesday, August 6, and Jamaican Independence Day! 🇯🇲

Well… technically it’s still August 5 back in Jamaica, so I guess I’m early? Time zones are wild.

Good morning from Chiang Mai! 🇹🇭

Today’s vibe:
— Brunch first, obviously
— Dodge raindrops like it’s cardio
— A quiet visit to a couple of temples—just me, my thoughts, and the sound of bells in the breeze
— Write for my She’s Unbound newsletter Audience
— Maybe hop on YouTube live (no promises 😅)

The best part? I actually feel alive this morning. Might’ve finally shaken off jet lag. Fingers crossed. 🤞

The last time I was in Thailand 🇹🇭, I rang in the New Year on an island off the coast of Phuket, barefoot and blissed out. That was back in 2018, going into 2019.

But this photo?

That was from my very first trip to Thailand in June 2018. I had just floated out of a spa treatment at a boutique hotel in Chiang Mai and snapped this right after. Let’s just say… I was zen’d out and moisturized. 🥰

Back then, I spent just ten days in Chiang Mai. This time? I’m moving in (okay, just for two months, but still).

Tomorrow night I’m off to the airport to catch a red-eye from Houston. Two months of Thai food, mountains, massages, and mango sticky rice? Yes, please. 😝

👉 Follow me on YouTube (MarciaUnbound) and come along for this eight-week adventure!

I’ll be sharing stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and honest reflections as I settle into slow living in Chiang Mai.

Yes, I’m still going to Thailand.
No, I’m not ignoring the news.
Yes, I’ve done my research, registered with STEP, and double-checked my meds.

What I won’t do is let fear take the driver’s seat. 🧘🏾‍♀️✈️

I just wrote a personal article about how I assess safety before traveling or relocating abroad. If you’ve been second-guessing your dreams because the world feels heavy, this one’s for you.

🛫 And yes, Chiang Mai, I’m coming for you.
