The Little Pilgrim

The Little Pilgrim The Little Pilgrim (1853-1868) is thought be the first children's magazine of its kind. Our goal with The Little Pilgrim Project is two-fold

1.

Our goal is to buy the largest private collection (78 issues), digitize them, produce a video series & make the collection available to the public FREE via eBook. Acquire the collection and digitize it for eBooks
First, and foremost, is acquiring the collection. We have to purchase the largest known collection remaining in private hands. The collection is comprised of 78 issues, and represents the

largest number of consecutive single issues known to exist. The private collection we wish to acquire has not been digitized, and is not available to the public. Once purchased, we will begin the page by page process of digitizing issues for eBooks free public download.

2. Produce and distribute an 80 video series very tightly based on The Little Pilgrim lessons, letters and poetry. The video series, while developed for children, will be suitable for teens and adults. Our video portrayal of Grace Greenwood will very closely mimic the mature manner in which she addressed children in The Little Pilgrim publication. She earned a phenomenal following for the period due to her frank ”faith & values focused” content, as well as the manner in which, through the mature approach to her writing style, she spoke to children. We will bring her attitude and writing style vividly to life in our historically accurate video series. You donate the dollar. We donate the collection. Please share with friends!

For those interested in actually reading a copy, this is a good scan. These Civil War era issues are fascinating to me. The war was going on all around. The soldiers of the North and South were fighting, killing, maiming each other. Yet, consider that the editor, as well as many of the young readers/correspondents were located in the North, while many of them were in the South. The issues of the day, the correspondence from the kids, the interaction was amazing... :)

This is 1 of 4 of Dyanna's working copies we will be posting. This 1864 copy has her notes, highlights, and no front page, as it's hanging on the wall on set.

Dyanna's "Holy Crap Keith This May Work" Donation of the Day yesterday came from Robert Crone of Memphis, TN. WOW is all I have to say! Robert, I was going to ask for the size of your favorite kid, so I could send them a dozen LP Tee Shirts. In light of your donation, I’m giving you the size, 36-24-36, of my favorite kid, Dyanna, and I’m shipping her to you. Thank you for your generosity, and God bless you for taking her off my hands!:)

Denver officials estimate the public gives 4.6 million dollars annually to panhandlers in their city, nearly all of it ending up with drug dealers and liquor stores. We are panhandlers, but we won’t give your dollar to a drug dealer or liquor store. We'll give it back in the form of children's lessons based in faith & values made available to every parent regardless of income.

If you want to help the poor, JUST SAY NO to drugs & alcohol and give us the dollar!:)

Today, Memorial Day 2012, with a tremendous amount of pride we officially launch The Little Pilgrim Project. We feel it’s consistent with the spirit of the day to announce our effort to bring a significant piece of our history out of a private collection and into the public domain. And, just so you know ahead of time, we will never make apologies for our passion for our country’s past, present and future faith and values. We are proud Americans. And if that happens to offend you, you can kiss our…
Our Project preserves and brings vividly to life an extraordinary 15 year history of life in American through the eyes of children. 1853 to 1868 spanned the rise and tragic fall of Abraham Lincoln, purchase of Alaska, southern states seceding, the Civil War and ultimately the abolition of slavery. Grace Greenwood’s monthly publication was delivered through that time, via Pony Express, to states east of the Mississippi where it was used in school houses, as well as in homes and churches, to educate our children. It is our goal to deliver it this time around via free eBook and a video series.
Given the state of our schools, media and Hollywood, along with their relentless attacks on American values, we feel there’s never been a better time to reintroduce Grace and her Little Pilgrim to America. But, we need $100,000 to do that! And, we’re asking the public to help with $1 donations, because at the end of the day, we are donating the collection, digitized and in eBook format, to the public. It only seems appropriate.
You do not have to donate to help us, and you do not have to love us to like us. Please “Like” our page. And, please share our page, posts, website and/or emails with your friends, family, co-workers, church, etc. And, give us a stinking dollar if you have it!
Thank you to everyone, and Happy Memorial Day!
