📰 YouTuber Arrested After Attempting Contact with Isolated Tribe Using Diet Coke
🗞️ News
On March 29, 2025, American YouTuber Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov, 24, from Scottsdale, Arizona, illegally landed on North Sentinel Island in India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The island is home to the Sentinelese, an uncontacted tribe protected by Indian law due to their vulnerability to external diseases and desire for isolation. Polyakov reportedly spent about five minutes on the island, during which he left a can of Diet Coke and a coconut as offerings, collected sand samples, and recorded a video. He had previously attempted to reach the island twice before, in October 2024 and January 2025, using an inflatable kayak. Upon his return, local fishermen reported him to authorities, leading to his arrest on March 31. He faces charges that could result in up to five years in prison and a fine. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 29.

🍬 Sweets from the Sky: Helicopter Marshmallow Drop Delights Detroit Kids
🗞️ News
On April 18, 2025, Royal Oak, Michigan, hosted the annual Great Marshmallow Drop at Worden Park, a cherished spring tradition organized by Oakland County Parks. A helicopter soared above the park, releasing 15,000 marshmallows to the delight of hundreds of children eagerly awaiting the sugary shower. Children, some adorned with festive bunny ears and clutching colorful baskets, raced to collect the marshmallows scattered across the grass. To ensure safety and fairness, volunteers coordinated the event, allowing children to gather the marshmallows only after the helicopter had completed its drop. The marshmallows were not intended for consumption; instead, each could be exchanged for a prize bag containing items like a water park pass and a kite. The event featured four separate drops catering to different age groups: children aged 4 and under, 5–7, 8–12, and a dedicated drop for children with disabilities, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.
