UPDATE ON MISSING AUTISTIC TEEN – EMMANUEL

Emmanuel, who had been missing since last Saturday, has been found — but unfortunately, he’s currently in immigration custody. His family, who has spent nearly a week searching for him, was notified today.

They were able to talk to Emmanuel for about an hour through FaceTime, but they still don’t know exactly where he’s being held. It’s not an official detention center — it’s a separate facility for children who are in custody. At this time, the family has not been given any details about the circumstances surrounding what happened. They’re also questioning why they weren’t notified sooner that he had been found.

Stay tuned for more info - will update one more information comes in. Fiel Houston is advocating for the family and they will be posting updates.

UPDATE #2!!!!
Just finished a Zoom call with Emmanuel’s mom, Fiel Houston, and members of the media. Emmanuel’s mom expressed deep gratitude that her son has been found but also sadness over the circumstances. She’s thankful for all the support from the community. Cesar from FIEL Houston stated they will be helping with resources from their network to bring Emmanuel home.

Emmanuel has special needs, and the family is seeking answers as to why there wasn’t a rapid response in notifying them that he had been found and placed in ICE custody under the Office of Refugee Resettlement. They are looking for answers on how this happened.

🚨 UPDATE: Building Explosion in Downtown Houston Under Investigation (Reported on October 2nd)

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Fire Department has released additional information regarding the explosion that occurred several weeks ago at a 17-story high-rise hotel under construction in downtown Houston.

Firefighters arrived to find multiple injured construction workers in front of the building following a powerful blast that blew out several windows and dislodged portions of the façade. A primary search of the structure was immediately conducted, during which two additional individuals were located and directed to the triage area.

In total, six construction workers were transported to area hospitals with thermal burns and lacerations. A medical branch was established at the scene to assist with patient care and coordination of resources.

Authorities say that no active fire or smoke was found inside the building upon arrival. However, significant debris and structural hazards prompted crews to establish a fall zone, and both Texas Avenue and Austin Street were closed with the assistance of the Houston Police Department to ensure public safety.

Specialized units including HFD Arson investigators, Hazmat teams, utility companies, and city building inspectors were requested to the scene as part of the response. A total of 84 HFD personnel responded to the incident, including units from Stations 7, 8, 9, 12, 27, 19, 20, 46, 6, 15, 17, 25, 18, 31, 24, 30, Hazmat 22, Rescue 42, and Rehab 8.

According to HFD’s Arson Division, no foul play is suspected, and the cause of the explosion remains under investigation. The building engineer on-site advised officials that, in his professional opinion, there was no danger of significant structural collapse at the time of assessment.

The Houston Fire Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the blast to determine the precise cause and ensure construction safety measures are reviewed.

Gun Deal Gone Horribly Wrong Ends in Chase and Arrests

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to an aggravated robbery in the 28600 block of the Northwest Freeway — in the parking lot of Academy Sports + Outdoors.

According to investigators, two Hispanic males driving a white Cadillac met with a victim in the parking lot to conduct a firearm transaction. During the exchange, one suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim while both men stole the victim’s fi****ms before fleeing the scene.

Deputies quickly located the suspects attempting to hide in a nearby neighborhood in the 20600 block of North Blue Hyacinth Drive. When deputies tried to make contact, the suspects fled, leading to a short pursuit that ended in the 20000 block of Cumberland Ridge Drive. Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident.

Inside the Cadillac, deputies recovered the stolen fi****ms and illegal narcotics — including ma*****na, Xanax, and prom**hazine.

The suspects were identified as Bryan Castro and Jesus Flores. Investigators learned Castro was out on a $500 bond for theft and on probation for a DWI case.

Both men were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle.
Castro’s bond was set at $85,000 out of the 495th District Court. Flores’ bond had not been set as of press time.

“You Are Not Alone”

I was able to get a young man safely off the bridge today. I spoke with him, offered to sit and talk, and he told me he hadn’t eaten all day. We went to a burger place, shared a meal, and talked.

By the time first responders arrived, we had already left the bridge—but thankfully, his family showed up soon after. I gave them my number and told them we’d gone to talk. He didn’t want to go with his family right away, and that’s okay. He’s 20 years old, and life is life-ing.

I listened without interrupting. My new little brother—if you’re reading this—I’m praying for you. I’m here for you. You are not alone. Life gets better, I promise it does.

We exchanged numbers, and I’ll be keeping in touch. When first responders found us, he agreed to go with them to get help.

To anyone reading this: no matter what you’re going through, please know—you are not alone. You can overcome your dark times. Life is a fight, yes, and it’s not always easy. But don’t give up. Battle, scratch, claw your way through it—and remember, you don’t have to do it alone.

HIGH WATER BILL?
💧🚔 “Can I Pay My Water Bill with Meth… or Do You Prefer a Forged Check?” 🚔💧

You just can’t make this stuff up, folks.

On Wednesday, October 8th, deputies were dispatched to the Westwood Shores Municipal Utility District Office after employees opened an envelope from the overnight drop box that didn’t exactly scream “responsible bill payer.”

Inside was a shutoff notice, a check, and a plastic bag containing a powdery substance. Deputies quickly confirmed it was m**hamphetamine — definitely not som**hing you want to mail with your utilities payment.

To make matters worse, the check turned out to be forged.

Early Thursday morning, deputies served a search warrant at the related address and found more m**hamphetamine. One suspect was arrested for Felony Forgery and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. A second suspect suffered a medical emergency and was taken to a local hospital, with charges pending.

💬 Moral of the story:
When it comes to paying bills, your options are usually cash, card, or check —
m**h and forgery are not accepted payment m**hods.

🚨 HISTORIC STRIKE AT HILTON AMERICAS-HOUSTON 🚨

On a Friday evening, more than 20 workers picketed outside the 24-story Hilton Americas-Houston, next to the George R. Brown Convention Center — part of a historic strike involving about 400 union members fighting for a living wage.

> “We gotta live paycheck to paycheck. It’s not enough for us to cover our bills,” said Aylin Alvarez, a housekeeper.

“Hilton is only paying us $16.50 an hour — not enough to keep up with rent, bills, and the cost of living,” added Bill Guillen, a PBX telephone operator who’s worked there since the hotel opened in 2003.

Union workers with UNITE HERE Local 23 are asking for $23 an hour, saying it would transform their lives.

Hilton has countered with an offer of $17.50 an hour, plus incremental raises — a proposal workers call “unfair,” especially given the hotel’s record-breaking profits over the past two years.

The strike is unprecedented — not just for its size, but because the Hilton is owned by Houston First, a public entity that manages the city’s convention venues, while operated by Hilton. Workers say both sides can afford to do better.

> “We do a lot for the hotel,” Alvarez said. “We’re just asking for a little bit from them.”

LAST ESCAPED INMATE CAPTURED

28-year-old Derrick Groves, the final of 10 inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail five months ago, has been arrested.

Authorities say Groves — who was serving a life sentence for two murder convictions — was found hiding in a crawl space inside an Atlanta home, along with drugs and multiple weapons.

What started HTX Breaking News?

Before HTX Breaking News was called ‘HTX Breaking News’, it was originally called ‘East Houston Breaking News. We orignally created this page for the East Houston area, until we got many requests to cover the entire Houston area. After creating other pages for the different sides of Houston, we then got one request to cover the entire Harris County area and some surrounding counties. Long story short, HTX Breaking News was created. HTX Breaking News originally stands for (Houston, Texas Breaking News) but, we prefer for it to stand for (Harris Texas Breaking News).

I am Brandon, the creator and editor of HTX Breaking News. I love doing things for my community, Denver Harbor, but I also love doing things for my WHOLE community, Houston, Texas. My wish, and goal, is to get as many visitors to the entire Harris County as possible. I hope to start live streaming HTX Breaking News soon.

I love photography, it is one of my main hobbies. I might be starting on an iPhone but you will soon, hopefully, see my work on your television. I plan on becoming a photographer, or a reporter, for my local news stations, KTRK (ABC13), KRIV(FOX26), KHOU(11), or KPRC(2). I do not get paid doing this but I do hope to start soon. I would love to get a camera/camcorder and computer to do some editing. Journalism may sound like an easy job but it really takes a lot of time and energy. I rely on other news stations, law enforcement agencies, and my community to give me information and photos of scenes/events. I do enjoy doing this though. I love meeting new people too and I am hoping to meet you one day.

Lastly, and most importantly, I would like to thank all of my supporters for helping my dream come true as a journalist and photographer. THANK YOU ALL!
