Illinois Police Conduct Extensive Search for Missing 17-Year-Old Girl

Carpentersville police are collaborating with law enforcement in Vernon Hills to locate Brissa Romero, a 17-year-old girl who has been missing since December 4th.

She was last seen near a Bowlero in Vernon Hills, where she was on her way to a holiday party.

Her electronic devices last placed her near the Hawthorn Mall.

Romero is described as having brown hair and eyes, standing 5 feet and weighing about 115 pounds.

She was dressed in a green shirt and black pants.

After an extensive search on the ground and through the air using a drone, police discovered Brissa's vehicle, a Nissan Rogue, submerged in a pond near the intersection of Lakeview Parkway and Executive Way.

Based on the condition of the vehicle, police believe she was in the vehicle when it went into the water, but her body has not been recovered. Despite this, the police continue to search the pond.

Surveillance footage from a nearby restaurant showed Brissa walking in and out of the restaurant before driving away about 15 minutes before her cell phone last pinged near the pond.
Police believe that Brissa might not have been familiar with the area and accidentally drove into the pond.

Carpentersville police are leading the investigation and working closely with Vernon Hill police.

They are still attempting to reach everyone who had the last contact with Brissa.
Her family is offering a $14,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to her safe return.

Tragic Discovery of Zeke Gregory Best

�The lifeless body of Zeke Gregory Best, the 10-month-old son of Jeremy Best, was discovered by hunters on Saturday morning. Regrettably, he was deceased.

In connection to the incident, Jeremy Best, who is suspected of murdering his pregnant wife and abducting Zeke, has been apprehended by authorities, according to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.

�A group of hunters contacted Bonneville County Dispatch at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Saturday after they found a man in a sleeping bag on the road's side, according to a news release.Officials have reported that the caller claimed a naked man was making strange statements.

�Bonneville County Sheriff's Department said the reports came from Kepps Crossing Road, near Dan Creek Road, east of Idaho Falls.

Upon arriving, the authorities identified the man as Jeremy Albert Best. Best was apprehended and safely placed in a patrol car while waiting for Idaho Falls Ambulance personnel to treat any possible injuries.

�The black Chevy SUV driven by Best was found nearby and sadly, Zeke Best's lifeless body was also discovered.

It is unclear whether Zeke's body was in the SUV. Bonneville County Coroner Rick Taylor stated that the cause of Zeke's death has yet to be determined. A forensic autopsy in Boise will be conducted before any decisions are made.

Last Thursday Best was seen on footage walking into a store completely naked, stealing ci******es before being escorted out.

Best was evaluated by EMS and taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was then turned over to hospital staff for mental evaluations. He was shortly discharged from the center.
�Late in the evening around 11:40 p.m., the Teton County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the Best household.

A news release from the sheriff's office stated that the dispatcher heard arguing on the line and dispatched deputies to the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Kali Jean Randall, the wife and mother of Zeke.

The police believe that Best killed Randall and fled with their child.

Zeke and Best have been sought after by law enforcement since 4 a.m last Friday when an Amber Alert was issued.
�Following medical clearance, Best was transported to Bonneville County Jail where he was apprehended for an outstanding homicide warrant from Teton County.

9-Year-Old Girl Killed in Mobile Shooting Identified as Cailee Knight

Cailee Knight, a fourth-grade student at Leinkauf Elementary School, has been identified as the victim of the overnight shooting at a Mobile home.

According to Cailee's grandmother, Shelisa Alfred, the young girl was known for her joyful spirit and love of being in the spotlight.

Police officials have reported that Cailee's brother, who is 16 years old, was the intended target of the attack.

Even though he was not present at the residence located on Rhett Drive, the incident took place there, in the vicinity of Zeigler Boulevard.

The tragic shooting took place at approximately 2 a.m. while multiple children were present inside the home. Cailee was sleeping on a couch when she was struck by gunfire.

After being taken to a local hospital, Cailee tragically passed away due to her injuries. Regrettably, she was the only individual struck by gunfire.

Authorities stated that the shooting was probably linked to gang activity and involved multiple perpetrators, based on the police's investigation.

The authorities condemned the crime as "senseless" and urged anyone with information to come forward.

A shooting incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. in the 9700 block of Royce Drive, south of I-20 near St. Augustine Drive, according to a report by the Dallas Police. When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered that five people had been shot.

Sadly, three adults passed away at the location. The other two victims were a 15-year-old female and a one-year-old boy who were both taken to the hospital.

The heart-wrenching event occurred in Texas where a one-year-old child passed away from severe injuries. Meanwhile, the teenager who was also shot is thankfully now in stable condition and has been discharged from the hospital.

The perpetrator, 21-year-old Byron Carrillo, a neighbor, walked into the victims' home and opened fire, according to DPD's communications with CBS News' Texas correspondent, JD Miles.

Carrillo was previously charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after threatening Jose Lopez and Vanessa De La Cruz, his girlfriend at the time.

Carrillo had an ankle monitor on his leg at the time of the shooting for aggravated assault charges from 2021.

According to the police, he removed the ankle monitor either before or immediately after the shooting.

Carrillo fled the scene, stole a vehicle, and drove south on I-35. Law enforcement spotted him in the Austin area and attempted to pull him over, but he led them on a car chase before crashing into a ditch. After the collision, he fled the scene on foot. When authorities tried to catch him, he pulled the gun on himself.

The victims were Logan De La Cruz, 1; Vanessa De La Cruz, 20; Karina Lopez, 33; and Jose Lopez, 50.

A 13-year-old was in the house but remained unharmed.
