What happened at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in New Orleans?

Five longtime ADA members, including renowned type 1 diabetes researcher Dr. Desmond Schatz, were asked to leave after distributing an editorial criticizing federal research funding cuts.

In this bonus episode of Diabetes Connections, Dr. Schatz shares what happened from his perspective, why research funding matters so much, and why he's still hopeful about the future of type 1 diabetes screening, prevention, and treatment.

When your family is already managing type 1 diabetes, a celiac diagnosis can feel like learning a whole new language.

This week on Diabetes Connections, I talk with my friend Samantha Merwin about raising a child with both type 1 and celiac disease.

One thing that stood out to me: there are a lot of resources for type 1 and a lot of resources for celiac, but not many that address the unique challenges of living with both.

Samantha founded Elbow Bump Kid years ago to help advocate for her family. The group has grown into a powerhouse T1D group and now they have great, free resources for Celiac as well.
