Friday carries a softness I didn’t expect.
Homesickness has been sitting with me all week, not heavy, just present.
It shows up in small ways. I miss the sound of thunderstorms rolling in before the rain hits.
I miss being close to the beach, where the air feels different, and the horizon stretches out in a way that steadies you. I miss the music I grew up with, the kind that feels like a familiar heartbeat. I even miss certain foods that don’t taste the same anywhere else.
At the same time, I’m discovering new things here.
New places, new flavors, new routines that are slowly becoming part of my life. It’s strange how you can miss home deeply while still building something meaningful in a new place. Both feelings can exist without canceling each other out.
This week, I spent time in professional development courses focused on operational management. It reminded me why I do the work I do.
Operations, executive support, social media management, content creation… they all connect. They all rely on clarity, rhythm, and intention.
They all require the same steady hand that storms and shorelines taught me as I grew up.
Understanding operations makes me better at digital presence. It helps me shape content that feels aligned instead of scattered; it brings a sense of purpose, and it helps me support founders who need their work to breathe instead of suffocate. The coursework didn’t pull me away from what I already know. It sharpened it. It gave structure to instincts I’ve carried for years.
Maybe that’s the real thread between homesickness and growth.
Both remind you who you are. Both remind you what steadiness feels like, and push you to build something that reflects the life you want, not just the one you left.
What did you reconnect with this week that reminded you of who you are?
