Mastering with the Mentors

💐Mastering with the Mentors: A quest of of Growth, Gratitude, and Greatness My Self-Taught Journey with the Help of Mentors in Dance, Vegan Culinary Arts, Fitness, Writing, and Much more.

Sharing my journey here and mostly on TikTok.This is my evolving love letter to exploring my varied interests, lifelong and new. I’ve always been curious—about wellness, writing, movement, mindset, food, and the little joys that make life sweeter. Mastering with the Mentors is where I explore all of it, one passion at a time. Whether I’m studying self development with the greats, revisiting the expertise of wellness icons, or experimenting in the kitchen with plant-based pioneers and cooking my way through their cookbooks, I’ll share what I learn, what inspires me, and how it all weaves into a fulfilled, more meaningful life. I’m not here to be an expert, I’m here to be a student of everything that lights me up. Join me as I discover it’s never too late to chase all of your dreams.

I have been quietly shaping a new project I am calling Mastering with the Mentors, a journey inspired in part by the film Julie and Julia, where one woman’s kitchen experiment becomes a whole life changing experience.

That idea stayed with me, what happens when we do not just admire our passions but actually practice them day by day, even imperfectly. I realized I have had a lot of passions waiting in the wings, some I’ve succeeded at, some I dabbled in and others I’ve only dreamed about; vegan cooking, writing, movement, wellness, creativity etc.

I want to build the structure around actually becoming the person who lives them and post and write about the experience. I plan to utilize tik tok and post weekly on my blog.

I am building arcs, choosing mentors both real and imagined, and treating this as both art, skill and discipline. This is me stepping into the work, one layer at a time.

As I go forward I will add more arcs, and look to newer mentors, because even in stormy weather I’m always curious and creative.

This is a passion project. I currently picking my mentors, people I follow, admire and want to learn from. They are the masters, my mentors, teaching me with this big beautiful internet.

MASTERING WITH THE MENTORS — ARCS

Inner World → Self-Development (Mindset) I plan to study self development and write what I learn. Audio books, traditional books, podcasts etc. This arc is the one to begin with, it doesn’t need any financing.

Nourishment → Vegan Cooking I plan to cook through vegan cook books like Julie and Julia. This one I quietly planning and so excited about. The first cook book could take almost a year. I am not in the space to begin yet since I need the tools but it’s fun to plan. This is the big arc!! One I’ve wanted to do since I saw the film.

Fitness → Strength + Body Training, endurance, flexibility, mobility.

Skill → Dance Fitness, my roots

Expression → Jazz, Tap,ballet, my roots

Voice (Written) → Writing, something I’m already doing and my heart and soul!

Voice (Spoken) → Public Speaking (future) my dream

Impact → Philanthropy (future) my purpose

I lost 10 pounds in six weeks.

I began my return to a healthy, wellness forward lifestyle.

These LEI jeans were purchased in Pittsburgh around 2005.

Size 13 junior, low waisted flare.

They fit again.

In 2017 I weighed 159.

SW January 1st 2026 201 lbs.

CW 191 lbs.

Goal weight is 155

I tried them on today because I got a feeling they would fit again, and they do. They are tight, but they were not too much of a struggle to get in. These jeans do not have stretch like modern jeans. I kindof like that better.

I’m done making excuses, instead I’m making systems and goals.

This is Max, a photo from the person who rehomed him eight years ago. He’s one of our loves, and such a great addition to the family.

This year as I decided to work on my goals, my wellness, fitness and weight loss goals are at front and center. I also want to give back in a sustainable way that works for my current situation.

I decided for every 26 minutes daily I work out( year 2026) I will gather change and put it into a jar to be donated to a local pet rescue.

I have chosen Houston rescue Friends for Life. They do so much for the community. You can read about them in the link below. They are awesome.

In December I will be donating on the date of my December 21st Birthday all that I collect.

I hope to start a movement challenge so others can do the same. Small changes( and loose change), become big accomplishments.

That’s a wrap for January, well almost.

Current stats

Haven’t missed a day of my 26 minutes of exercise. I plan to evolve and do more as I get fit again.

I’m getting my group exercise certification and I’m learning how to lead a class.

Change in the jar daily, and I started with a half jar!

I’m down 7 pounds, that’s good for me, I’m taking it slow. I haven’t missed a day of tracking, and I’m sticking to my routine.

Consistency is my goal in all my plans. Giving back is my reward. Change is small and doable, in donations and in everyday habits.

Are you making changes?

Day 15 and I’m down 2.4 more lbs and 6.4 lbs total.

I’m sticking to my daily systems.
Rebound morning
WW track daily ( eat 80/20)
26 minimum of exercise
Change in jar ( I found where I’m donating the money next December)

Working on other projects and goals. Beginning 2026 with routine first! Day by day and week by week.

LOST MY FIRST FOUR POUNDS 🎊🎉🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎉🎉🎊🎊

Today is day 8, and my first full week is completed. I thought I would share what my routine looks like as I begin my changeforchange26 journey that started on 1/1/2026.

I weighed in today and I lost my first 4 lbs, I went from 201 to 197. After I awaken, I drink 16 oz of water and I rebound on my trampoline just for five minutes and do some stretches. This helps wake my body up.

I wait one hour before coffee or food, and then I have a light breakfast and my coffee. I have an intentional slow beginning to my day.

I used to think to be successful at fitness and weight loss I must wake up earlier. I work late, I get home late. So my routine is tailored for my current lifestyle. I’m working with what I have and how I feel.

I track everything. I eat 80/20 so mostly healthy( hello vegan) but im trying not to be obsessive and eat with balance. It’s a lot more sustainable and I won’t binge. So sourdough toast is in along with portion control. Yo yo dieting is out.

Before work I will eat my lunch, I prepped it so I don’t have to think.

I do my 26 minutes intentional exercise after work, starting off slow as my body adjusts. ( body weight strength and cardio) This is my beginning point for January. It will be adjusted as I feel more fit.

I do wait tables so I walk a lot nightly. My late nights are the reason I work out after work, I’m already high energy when I walk in the door.

After my workout I eat a light dinner, and pull out my planner and check of four things as I listen to music that helps regulate my mood.
Morning rebound✅
Track food in app ✅
Work out ✅
Change in jar for charity next December ✅
Fill out next day✅

I look through my intentions and my other micro goals I plan to add to my days. These are just the beginning of my wellness daily micro goals, which are part of a routine and are non-negotiable. If I’m feeling a little slow or unwell I will do a slow walk on the treadmill.

🎊The macro goals 🎊
To lose weight
To dance again
To get in shape
To run a 10K again
To donate change to a charity

The macro goals are the bigger picture.

I’m not focused on the bigger picture, it’s beyond my sight.

For once I’m taking it day by day, week by week.

I’m not making excuses anymore.

I’m not overeating and over consuming anything. I’m focusing on my mindset and positive forward changes. I am yet to find a charity to donate to next December.

Happy 2nd week of January to all.
If you are beginning a wellness journey I highly suggest you start where you are, that you listen to your body, and that you commit when you decide.

Let’s lock in together, a virtual coffee pow wow!🤩

We can do it!!

Today is day six, and it feels most comfortable to make a few videos a week rather than daily.

It’s epiphany and that means the holiday is officially over, and time to double down on micro goals for the new year.

I also figured out after work I have a ton of energy, so my workouts are at night on my night shifts.

Every 26 minute daily workout I put change in the jar. Collecting for next December.

I’m using my weight watchers app to track, and my planner to document.

I’m working on my mindset, positivity over anxiety and stress.

Lots of macro goals and changes for this year, but it starts with micro goals and consistency.

One of my goals is to make time for a social life, and get my hair cut, it’s way too long!

Seeing my Houston Bestie Chris in two weeks.

Happiness is the real goal. Life may throw curveballs that feel more like grenades, but that doesn’t mean we stop living and retreat from the world.
