A New York woman is facing up to 25 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of throwing dynamite into her boyfriend's bedroom, resulting in the loss of his hand. Keyonna Waddell, 35, was convicted of first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The incident occurred on March 22, 2024, when Waddell threw a stick of dynamite into her boyfriend's bedroom while he slept following an argument.
The victim woke up to a hissing sound and saw a flame on the floor. He discovered a stick of dynamite and attempted to extinguish it but was unsuccessful. He picked it up to throw it outside but it detonated in his hand, resulting in the amputation of his hand and part of his arm. The victim saw Waddell fleeing his apartment, and she was arrested the next day. Waddell's sentencing is scheduled for May 27.
