TMB: What motivated you to go into the interior design field?

LILLY POWELL: I’ve always had a passion for decorating. As a child, I would constantly rearrange my mom’s living room. That creative spark never left me. As an adult, what truly motivated me to start Kirby and Z Interior Design was motherhood. I wanted to build a career that allowed me to prioritize being a mom. Creating my own business gave me the freedom to design my schedule around my daughter’s life. I wanted to be a mom first—and being my own boss gave me the flexibility to do both.
