ATTN: HEAVY BANDS from Houston and beyond…. Gravitoyd Battle of the Bands is coming back, and it went so well last time that we’re working on 2 events - one for December and one for April. If you’re not familiar with how it works, it’s winner take all and the winner gets the opening slot on our Annual Gravitoyd Doomfest, and we are adding a second opening slot for B**r & Metalfest! S U F F E R I N G won the last one and crushed at Doomfest! We are ready for submissions, please email them as shown in the attached flyers. For best chance at entering send your Spotify or bandcamp links, epk or bio, and link to live YouTube performance. Complete submissions will get first priority.

If you have played Doomfest or B**r & Metalfest before you are not eligible to enter, the goal is to give the platform to some hardworking younger bands that haven’t got the opportunity yet. Exact dates and venue are not set yet but they will both be Saturdays. There are no geographical restrictions just make sure you can make the drive to Houston and have availability before you submit. The subgenres on the flyer are pretty self explanatory, if your sound fits into one or a few of those, you’re a perfect fit. If you think you have a unique sound that may appeal to those audiences then you may also fit! Adjacent subgenres are more than welcome and typically do well - ie Old-school Death metal, any form of Traditional metal, NWOBHM, etc. Help us find the next great heavy underground band!

We are officially one week away from Doomfest and have 2 very special announcements today! While we were bummed to see pull out earlier this week, we were prepared and are very excited to announce 2 NEW ADDITIONS TO GRAVITOYD DOOMFEST!

BAND ANNOUNCEMENT: SUFFERING (Gravitoyd Battle of the Bands Winner)

Suffering was born out of a project that started back in 2017. Hailing from the great state of Texas, the project morphed into what we now know as Suffering in 2024, when the band played its first two shows in the Lonestar state. They grind out their own unique flavor of Doom & Sludge that they like to call “Black Dirt Metal” and have 1 EP released in 2025 “The Great Heavy Depression”. The band battled for and won the opening Doomfest IV slot at the inaugural Gravitoyd Battle of the Bands in April 2026.

BAND ANNOUNCEMENT: SAVIORSKIN

SaviorSkin, a 2-time Doomfest Alumni, formed in 2018 and hailing from Houston TX, bring their version of industrialized Death-Doom with a dark gothic edge. The band takes influence from Post-Punk Goth, Death and Doom Metal of yore and blend it all with industrialized pulsing machine-like rhythms and catchy sensibilities that most underground metal fear to tread.

The GRAVITOYD BATTLE OF THE BANDS is right around the corner next Saturday April 18th, and the winner will move on to play at GRAVITOYD DOOMFEST May 2nd! Join us to cheer these youngsters on and help cultivate the next generation of heavy underground music. Formed in Houston, TX in 2024, instrumental power trio Grim Trophies are known for their intense live shows and their blend of shifting time signatures and aggressive riffs that is best described as punk rock meets King Crimson. The band are currently recording their debut full length and have a song featured on the upcoming compilation The Cat that Wouldn’t Die to be released by C.I.A. Records.

Stone Nomads is an American Metal power trio based in Houston TX. The band, formed by Jon Cosky (Guitar/Vocals) and Jude Sisk (Bass/Vocals) in 2021, and rounded out with Ben Wozniak behind the kit, incorporates the sounds of early Doom Metal, modern Sludge Metal and all things heavy. Currently signed to Ripple Music, they have released 3 albums which have made multiple appearances on the Doom Charts and Sirius XM’s Liquid Metal. The band have been a staple at festivals around the US and tour throughout the states frequently.
