Canvas was hacked.
Except… HISD fired the entire IT department and replaced it with an AI platform. 🤖 So now students and teachers across the district STILL can’t access Canvas while other districts are already back online. ⏳

The worst part? All that is left to do is have each student/parent reset their account password. Simple. 🔑

📚 Teachers can’t post assignments.
📝 Students can’t submit work.
📲 Families can’t see grades or updates.

This is what happens when you gut human infrastructure and pretend “innovation” can replace actual experienced staff. 🫠

A password reset should not turn into a district-wide operational crisis. Miles, please tell us again how awesome AI is. 🚨

🚨 You heard it here first: HISD is reorganizing (again) by school type instead of regional divisions and adding to the list of made-up upper cabinet positions (we’re speculating they’re high paying too 💰).

What we know so far:
• 1 EAS Elementary Chief - Dr. Mario Sandoval
• 1 EAS Secondary Chief - Dr. April Williams
• 1 NES Elementary Chief - Leigha Curry
• 1 NES Secondary Chief - Dr. Delinda Castro

(EAS = Earned Autonomy Schools, aka the new PUA / “non-NES”)

And guess what? Due to 1882 partnerships, HISD is also changing the autonomy framework… again. Because at this point, constant restructuring isn’t a strategy… it is the entire strategy. 🔄

Different org chart, same problems. New titles, same confusion. Endless “transformation” cycles while campuses are expected to keep everything running smoothly while the ship is sinking. 📚

Meanwhile teachers and schools are stuck decoding and fixing the constant errors of the latest version of the system instead of getting genuine stability or support.

At this point it’s full Titanic energy: rearrange the deck chairs, rename the sections of the ship, shuffle leadership, and hope nobody notices what’s coming. 🚢

We are so close to yelling BINGO… and somehow it still feels like a loss.

A few squares didn’t age well (shocking, I know). NES campuses can’t exactly be gaslit into “earned autonomy” anymore when the framework keeps getting rewritten mid-game… again. More info on that soon.

At this point, the only predictable thing is the chaos. We’ve truly never been less excited to win bingo.

At the April Houston Independent School District Board meeting, Angela Flowers asked several very normal clarifying questions about 1882 partnerships to Superintendent Mike Miles. 🎯

Board president Ric Campo tried to cut her off 🚫, but she stayed right on it because ~shockingly~ asking about the future of the district is part of the job.

🔮Here’s what OUR prediction ring says:
Last year, the state removed several board members who expressed minimal dissent just before the budget vote and were replaced with some even more spineless “yes men.”

And let’s be real… one way to guarantee a “yes” vote is to remove anyone who might say “no.” 👀

Three years into this takeover, after dozens of board meetings and “community engagement” sessions where parents, teachers and community members have shown up with not just feedback about the NES structure but also data, solutions, and real expertise. Yet, Mike Miles has never managed a meaningful response. 🤔

👏🏻Kudos to Brad Wray for getting under Mike’s skin enough to deserve this sassy email response.

🚨 Attention HISD NES Co-Location Families, this is important. 🚨

Last Thursday night, the HISD Board of Managers unanimously approved the co-location for four NES schools.

Cage Elementary (NES) ➡️ Lantrip Elementary
Fleming MS + McReynolds MS (NES) ➡️ Mickey Leland

All 3 of the schools moving are NES.

*Hobby Elementary is co-locating to Lawson Middle School, however, this form of resistance won’t work as there are grade level differences.*

By the end of this school year (2025–2026), three out of four of these campuses will have completed three years in the NES learning model and earned A or B ratings. That was the benchmark we were told mattered. McReynolds does not meet TEA accountability ratings, yet families can still apply through the lottery.

Now here’s where it gets interesting:
⚡ Fleming Middle School and McReynolds Middle School have been longstanding rival campuses in this community. Anyone who has been around knows that history runs deep. Now they are being placed together inside the same building. ⚡

‼️And that building is Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy, an all-boys campus.‼️

Female students from the co-located NES middle schools won’t be apply to apply for Mickey Leland from the lottery, unfortunately.

Families at these schools have an extended lottery deadline through Friday, March 6.

If families apply to the non-NES school in the shared building, enrollment shifts.
When enrollment shifts, funding shifts.
When funding shifts, structure follows.
They approved co-location. They do not control where families choose to enroll.

At the HISD Destination Transformation 2026 Educational Summit, former HISD Chief of Public Affairs & Communications Alex Elizondo presented a slide labeling teacher autonomy and meaningful parent and community input as “fairy tales.” Bold strategy for a public school system funded by the very people being dismissed.

If that’s how they view input, we can only imagine what’s happening with parent and community feedback on school closures. 🚮

And while we’re at it, teaching isn’t a fairy tale. It’s a calling. The educators doing this work every day don’t need a summit to validate that.
