Actor Eric Dane had passed away at the age of 53.

Dane's family released the following statement to PEOPLE. "With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS," reads the statement. "He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”

Dane rose to fame for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan a.k.a. "McSteamy in Grey’s Anatomy.
He also starred in the popular series Euphoria.

Dane announced to the public he was diagnosed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84.

Jackson was not only an American civil rights leader, but also a minister, politician and protégé of Martin Luther King Jr.

Rev. Jackson's family released the following statement:

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of civil rights leader and founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the Honorable Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson Sr. He died peacefully on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family. His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and human rights helped shape a global movement for freedom and dignity. A tireless change agent, he elevated the voices of the voiceless — from his presidential campaigns in the 1980s to mobilizing millions to register to vote — leaving an indelible mark on history,"

"Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world," the Jackson family said in a statement. "We shared him with the world, and in return, the world became part of our extended family."

Dawson's Creek Alumni James Van Der Beek has passed away at the age of 48.

Van Der Beek announced in November 2024 that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.

The actor's wife released the following statement:

"Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend."

Hurricane Melissa Update:

Landfall is expected Tuesday Morning...

Prime Minister Andrew Holness of Jamaica issued dire safety warnings and ordered mandatory evacuations as Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm channeling 175 m.p.h. winds and enough moisture to drop nearly three feet of rain, made a turn toward his country’s southern coast and its 2.8 million people.

Mr. Holness told CNN that he did not believe there was “any infrastructure within this region that could withstand” a storm that powerful.

Three people were killed and 13 others injured during preparations for the storm, the health minister said.

Portions of Jamaica are expected to receive 15 to 30 inches of rainfall from Hurricane Melissa, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory, warning that the island faced “catastrophic and life-threatening winds, flooding and storm surge.”
