That tiny black dot crawling across the Sun isn't a speck of dust on your telescope-it's Mercury, an entire world nearly 4,880 kilometers across, silently crossing the face of our star like a cosmic eclipse in miniature.This rare spectacle is a transit of Mercury, when the planet slips directly between Earth and the Sun, casting its shadow across the solar disk.
Because Mercury's orbit is tilted and it whips around the Sun every 88 days, these alignments are uncommon-only about 13 or 14 times per century. When one happens, the planet appears as a sharp, jet-black silhouette gliding slowly across the blinding brilliance of the Sun over the course of several hours, a breathtaking reminder of the clockwork precision of our solar system. The most recent transit visible from Earth took place on November 11, 2019. At its nearest, Mercury is still roughly 77 million kilometers away-yet against the Sun's colossal 1.39-million-kilometer diameter, it shrinks to a mere pixel. It's a humbling demonstration of how vast distances can make even a planet vanish into insignificance.Up close, though, Mercury is anything but ordinary. It endures some of the most extreme temperatures in the solar system: blistering highs of around 430°C during the day, plunging to below -180°C at night. 🚀 NASA’s Next Giant Leap to the Moon

Seen here is the massive core stage of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), the most powerful rocket ever built for deep-space exploration. Towering over the people around it, this enormous orange stage is a key component of the Artemis program, humanity’s effort to return astronauts to the lunar surface for the first time since the Apollo era.

The SLS rocket will launch the Artemis III mission, currently targeted for the late 2020s, carrying astronauts toward the Moon and supporting the first crewed lunar landing of the Artemis generation. Standing over 98 meters (322 feet) tall when fully assembled, the rocket is designed to send the Orion spacecraft, astronauts, and critical cargo beyond Earth orbit.

Every 16 days, astronomers detect a powerful radio signal arriving at Earth from an object located about 470 million light-years away. This repeating burst, known as a Fast Radio Burst (FRB), lasts only milliseconds but releases an incredible amount of energy.

Unlike most FRBs that appear randomly, this signal follows a remarkably regular cycle, turning “on” and “off” every 16 days. 🌕 Apollo 15: The Most Challenging Lunar Landing

This is the Apollo 15 landing site, one of the most difficult landing locations ever attempted during NASA’s Apollo program. Touching down in the rugged Hadley-Apennine region on July 30, 1971, astronauts David Scott and James Irwin landed among towering mountains and deep valleys unlike any previous Moon mission.

The challenging terrain caused the Lunar Module “Falcon” to come to rest slightly tilted on the lunar surface. Despite the difficult landing, Apollo 15 became one of the most successful lunar expeditions, introducing the first Lunar Roving Vehicle and allowing astronauts to explore farther than ever before.
