In the wake of the May 24 school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Conroe ISD announced it will increase the visibility of police on campus on the remaining days of the school year this week. The school year will end for students May 26.

The AISD board at its May 10 meeting gave Tiffany Wennerstrom, board vice president and outgoing Position 4 trustee, and Nicole Tonini, board secretary and outgoing Position 5 trustee, the floor to say their goodbyes. Additionally, the board introduced Regan Peterson as the new Position 4 trustee and David Selsky for Position 5.

“There’s nothing more I can say for these ladies,” AISD board President Earl Humbird said. “They have given it their all for Alvin ISD.”

The evening of May 10 was filled with tears on the Alvin ISD board of trustees, not because of a somber occasion, but due to the relationships established.

Arts and entertainment company Meow Wolf has announced plans to work with hundreds of artists to create an immersive and interactive art experience inside Grapevine Mills.

According to a May 11 news release from the company, Meow Wolf is opening two permanent exhibitions in Texas—one in Grapevine Mills and the other in Houston's Fifth Ward.

“The Meow Wolf story universe is expanding, and Texas holds the keys to our next chapters,” Meow Wolf CEO Jose Tolosa said in the release. “The opportunities this state has presented have already become the touchstones of a vibrant, arts-centric portal of imaginative creativity.”

Magnolia Thai opened Jan. 10 at 37125 FM 1774, Ste. 103, Magnolia, co-owner Aaron Kinler said. The eatery offers pad Thai, curry, orange chicken, salad and soup.

Over the next two months, employees with the Klein Volunteer Fire Department will be transferred to Harris County Emergency Services District No. 16, district officials told Community Impact Newspaper on May 3. According to Rich Jones, ESD 16 commissioner and president, the move is the next step in the process of the district taking over services for the 52-square-mile area.

Houston-based Bosscat Kitchen will open a location at Market Street in The Woodlands, Bosscat owner John Reed announced. Market Street management said the restaurant is slated to open in November. Bosscat will be located where Berryhill Baja Grill was formerly located at 9595 Six Pines Drive, The Woodlands, before it closed in 2020.
