How many of you have gotten a bad bottle of gas. This is a first for me.
The bottom weld was with the new tank and the top was a spare tank, both 100% argon. Took me a little bit to sort out that it was the gas. If something doesn't seem right, check your gas. This is another good reason to keep a spare bottle around.

Not the shortest torch I have but this is the one for he job. The WP-24 doesn't come out often but when I need it it's a life saver.

I guess since abom started the share GTD tap handle trend, I may as well join in. I think I will make some handles for this and hang it on the wall, instead of hiding it in a drawer.

Welding causes distortion. Which in turn shrinks the can preventing the bumps too from going back in the can. You can use an old bump stop, but they fit loosely and the can will shrink onto it. Requiring the need to hammer it in and out. This tool will expand to constrain the shrinkage and maintain the original size of the can. Allowing the bumpstop to fit properly. Simply insert the tool, weld, let everything cool, tap out the pin and remove the pieces. Available in 2" & 2.5". Link in bio.
