How will Google+ Pages fit in with and complement your social media marketing program? It's too early to say. They've only been available a little over 24 hours after all.

But considering everything that falls within the Google/Google+ spectrum (search, Google places, +1's, circles, video Hangouts, and now Direct Connect) we think it's a platform brands need to be a part of.

We've been waiting (impatiently) for months, and now Google+ has finally launched Pages, which will allow businesses and brands to establish a presence in the social network.

Well, never mind our first thought (which is 3 out of 4 small businesses like social media, that's our eternal optimism again).

Our second thought was -- Big deal.

There's been a lot of fuss in the industry about a study that found 1 out of 4 small businesses hates social media. Hmmm...

How do you measure the ROI of WOM? What formula will give you the precise dollar amount generated by folks talking about your brand?

There isn't one.

There's more to social media than ROI. Namely, the "social" bit.

In business, everything eventually comes back to the all-important bottom line.That fact has been - and continues to be - one of the biggest stumbling blocks with social media marketing.

So... we all had a good laugh at management's picture of a Homecoming Queen who is definitely *NOT* our Director of Small Business. (Seriously.)

But, hey! Social networks are about being SOCIAL, right? Gettin' to know each other... meeting the personality behind the logo... learning about folks!

Americans love to go. That's why we were first to come up with a real car. (We don't even have to be going anywhere in particular - which is why we were also first to come up with the concept of "cruising".) But we like to stay connected, too.
