OVERNIGHT STRUCTURE FIRE: Two people were seriously injured after a fast-moving RV fire broke out early Friday morning in eastern Hernando County.

According to Hernando County Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2026, to the 35000 block of Goolsby Street following reports of a fully involved RV fire with occupants suffering from burn injuries.

When firefighters arrived, they found one recreational vehicle fully engulfed in flames and a second RV partially on fire. Crews immediately launched an aggressive fire attack while also providing emergency medical care to the two injured occupants.

Due to the severity of their injuries, two medical helicopters were called to the scene. Both victims were transported in serious condition to a local burn and trauma center for advanced treatment.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within approximately 30 minutes of arriving on scene, preventing the fire from spreading further.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is now investigating the cause of the fire. No firefighters or emergency responders were injured during the incident.
