Here's an oldie but a goodie: always check the backseat before driving.

Danielle's second story in this Supernatural Parables anthology shares a tale of the dangers of driving, and what's in the backseat.

Danielle Muething - Author and Narrator is a young adult horror author from Ohio. Her love of horror started at an early age, but her love of reading didn’t. Finding such authors as R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike made her realize how much she loved books, and those memories inspired her to write her own stories. She has also been narrating audiobooks since 2019. This came in handy when it was time to make the audio versions of her own books. When she isn't writing or narrating, she's reading, playing video games, watching movies, and hanging out with her husband and dogs.

Amanda Symes is back with her second story in Supernatural Parables: The Familiar Stranger.

Her first story took us into the horror world of a corporate office. This second story takes us into a new haunted location 👻

Camping as a child, the adults use to tell this author that the yipping noises in the dark were from banshees hunting for kids up past bedtime. She still believes banshees are lurking in that dark line at the edge of campfire light and enjoys bringing readers to the edge of the light to make them squirm.

Let's meet our second new author for Supernatural Parables: Book Two - Into the Light!

David Nash cowrote a story with L.E. Schwaller. Both stories dive into friendship, and that even the best of friendships can die when problems are avoided and not faced head-on.

David is an author and songwriter from La Crescent, Minnesota. His novels include "The Man in the Pines" (Ten16 Press, 2020) and the Minnesota Book Award Finalist for fiction "In Wells’ Time” (Unsolicited Press, 2025). He co-writes with L.E. Schwaller often, including two other Dead Birds Anthologies (Catatonic Survival; The Whopper). His first dark fiction collection, “The Burntwood Anthology,” will be released July 2026 by Unsolicited Press exploring the darkness of karma in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Let's meet the authors of Supernatural Parables: Book Two - Into the Light 🙌

Most of the authors are the same as Book One, but we do have two new face. Starting with Amy Dahl !

Her story, Where the Books Breathe, is the counterpart to Jayne Carlson's story, Take Heart, from Book One.

Since she was young, Amy has used stories to escape the harsh reality of the world. Now, with strokes of the keys (much like the stroke of an artist’s brush) Dahl creates pictures from words that will draw in her readers and help them to do the same. During her time at Metro State University, she discovered a love of short fiction with hints of supernatural undertones that challenge her to use a much smaller canvas to create the same sweeping views and images that her favorite author, Anne Rice, could. Her work has spanned into other genres like fantasy, creative nonfiction, flash fiction, and memoir. Dahl has been published in Dead Birds Publishing and Metro State’s Haute Dish. She lives in Big Lake, Minnesota with her husband, their children, and a small zoo of pets.

The much anticipated Book 2 of the Supernatural Parables anthology will be here in a month! Release day is January 9, 2026 👻

After surviving the darkest depths of night, the characters in these stories are confronted with a light on the horizon. But it's not the safety of day. This collection of stories lives where death overcomes life, villains conquer heroes, and senses supersede truth.

Take a journey into the light with us. But don't let your guard down; that light at the end of the tunnel isn't sunshine and rainbows. 😱

The character in The Monster Hunter, brought to you by author Gregg Chamberlain, has good reason to question who - or what - is living in the home next to his.
