Oh, how beautiful is God’s Church.
No matter where you gather, no matter what four walls you find yourself inside of this Sunday, let us pause and give God praise for His Church — the Ekklesia, the called-out ones.
God reminds us in His Word not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. He desires His children to gather in unity, to grow, to learn, and to be shaped by Him.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another…”
— Hebrews 10:25
The Church sometimes receives a bad reputation because of the many things that can seemingly go wrong. But today, let us pause and honor those who are striving to do it right, who are standing firm on truth, love, and obedience.
God declares:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”
— Romans 10:15
He also tells us that those who labor faithfully in preaching and teaching are worthy of honor:
“Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.”
— 1 Timothy 5:17
Jesus Himself said:
“On this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
— Matthew 16:18
The Church is also a hospital — a place for the hurting, the weary, and the broken — a place where healing flows from the presence of God.
“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.”
— Mark 2:17
We all stand in need of a touch from God in some form or capacity.
It is important that we continue to hide the Word in our hearts,
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
— Psalm 119:11
It is important that we train up our children in the way they should go,
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
— Proverbs 22:6
It is important that we pursue holiness,
“Be holy, for I am holy.”
— 1 Peter 1:16
Many are working diligently to not dilute the Word of God, but to proclaim it faithfully — fresh, alive, and rooted in truth generation after generation.
Now is the time to hold up the banner of belief and to fight the good fight of faith.
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life…”
— 1 Timothy 6:12
The Church is beautiful.
The people of God are beautiful.
And we stand in continual need of our Savior as we press forward in the work He has called us to do.
To God be the glory for His Church.
