SHOCKING: Bandits Demand ₦1 Billion, Release of Their Members from Prison, and Land Law Changes to Free Abducted Oyo School Children

Armed bandits who abducted school children in Oyo State have reportedly made serious demands before agreeing to release the victims.

According to the conditions being circulated, the group is asking for the following:

1. Payment of ₦1 billion ransom, to be sent to an account said to be in the Benin Republic.

2. Release of their members currently held in Agodi and Abolongo correctional centres in Oyo State.

3. Provision of two Toyota Hilux vehicles.

4. Changes to some state laws in their favour, including issues relating to land use and other legal concessions.

Nigeria Was Never United — It Was Amalgamated for British Convenience
On January 1, 1914, the British colonial government under Lord Frederick Lugard forcefully merged the Northern and Southern Protectorates into what we now call Nigeria. Let’s be honest: this was never done for our benefit.
The reason was simple — money.
The North was running at a deficit.
The South was generating profit through palm oil, cocoa, and trade.
So Britain merged both regions so Southern wealth could fund Northern administration. That’s it. No referendum. No dialogue. No consent from our ancestors.
Different ethnic groups.
Different religions.
Different cultures.
Different systems of governance.
Yet Britain tied us together and called it a nation.
Till today, we are paying the price:
Ethnic tension
Religious conflict
Political imbalance
Unequal development
A constant struggle for unity
Nigeria’s problem did not start today.
It did not start with social media arguments.
It started in 1914, when our future was decided in London, not Africa.
We must stop fighting ourselves and start asking the real questions: Who benefits from our division?
Why is unity always demanded, but justice never delivered?
Until we confront this truth, Nigeria will remain a country struggling to become a nation.
History matters. Truth matters. Unity without justice is a lie.
