Humboldt Standard Humboldt Nebraska Newspaper The Humboldt Standard was established in 1882. The newspaper's first Publisher and Editor was George Monagon, from 1882 to 1890.

Jack Cooper purchased the Standard in 1975, and was the Editor and staff leader until 2017. Jack sold the Humboldt Standard to local businessman George Marburger , the current owner. There were a series of owners/editors, each lasting a year or two after Monagon; Barber, Tracy, Marble, Shirley, Gird, Edwards and Hall. William C. Norton was next from 1908 until his death in 1929 (at age 59). His wi

fe, Sue M. Willis Norton, (publisher) and son, Harry K. Norton, (Business Manager) continued the Humboldt Standard until selling in 1936 to Ben Mitchell. After Mitchell was Wayne Friedley, Jack Cooper, and now George Marburger.

This just in from the Nebraska Press Association: "On Saturday (7/29), Nebr Press Assn was notified that the Sutton Clay County News newspaper office building was severely damaged by a serious windstorm that hit the town early Saturday morning.

According to reports from those helping on the scene, the office building has been condemned and will need to be demolished. Clay Co. News General Manager, Tory Duncan, and staff have set up temporary offices in the Sutton Community Building.

NPA will send updates as we have more information, and let you know if/how members can help."
