Blondie drummer Clem Burke was one of my favorites. Hard-hitting, creative and super fun to watch. I saw him with Chequered Past at the Cookoos Nest in the early 80’s and I was next to the drum riser. Stunning performance. I also saw him with The Eurythmics. Again, he stole the show.
I met him a couple times and he was very friendly and down to earth. He said his biggest influences were Hal Blaine and Little Richard’s drummer, Earl Palmer. RIP, Clem.
