Art League Awarded $58,000 for Boiler Work

The Art League of Long Island has received a $58,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to help fund the replacement of aging boiler equipment at its Dix Hills facility. The funding, awarded through NYSCA’s Fiscal Year 2026 Capital Projects Fund, will support the organization’s β€œBoiler Replacement & Surrounding Construction” project, which includes replacing two outdated gas boilers and related piping, connectors, electrical systems and control wiring. According to the Art League, the project is designed to improve the facility’s long-term sustainability, increase energy efficiency and reduce heating and cooling costs....

Retired nurse practitioner launches website offering help with health insurance gaps

Mary Beth White, a retired Huntington Nurse Practitioner, heard the call and answered it. The call was from Suffolk County Legislator Rebecca Sanin, who is concerned about the growing number of Long Islanders who are presently without health insurance, and, many more to be, due to the rollout of federal Medicaids cuts. "Rebecca identified the need and suggested a resource guide," White said, "and I made it a project." White's project became the newly-launched website: LI Healthcare Resources. "When Mary Beth and I spoke about the challenges facing so many families- from Medicaid cuts, loss of Essential Plan coverage to the rising cost of healthcare- I shared that one of the biggest obstacles I hear in my office is that many people who are uninsured or underinsured simply don't know where to begin to find resources that are available to them," Legislator Sanin said....
