Remembering the great Cliff Gallup, lead guitarist for Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps. Recognized as one of the greatest early RnR/rockabilly guitarists in history. Both Jeff Beck & Brian Setzer have named him as a primary inspiration. While Grease was released on this day in 1978, it's soundtrack had already been out a full 2 months, & "You're the One That I Want" was already the #1 song in the nation. I, however, didn't get to see it until it showed at the East Drive-In packaged w/a PG edit of Saturday Fever. This was from the The Herald-Dispatch dated 8/31/79, found at the Cabell County Public Library. Sidenote: Sandy was my first crush. Tune in again in August & find out who my first love was.

Happy birthday to one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time, Harry Nilsson. Says who? Says David Bowie, THE BEATLES, etc... He wrote gorgeous tunes like "One" by Three Dog Night & performed gorgeous ones like "Without You" which was originally written & recorded by Badfinger.
