🚀SATURN IB RETURNS: The iconic rocket on I-65 in Ardmore was removed two years ago for safety concerns, but plans are underway to restore the landmark! Here’s what we know ⬇️

⏰ Saturn IB stood along the Alabama/Tennessee border for 44 years before being taken down in 2023 for safety concerns
🧑‍🚀 A replica is being built to stand permanently on I-65 in honor of Saturn IB
🤝 The project is a collaboration between the Alabama House of Representatives + The United States Space & Rocket Center ()

💬 “We’re looking forward to working with state leaders to place a replica of the Saturn IB at the Alabama Welcome Center near Ardmore. Our team will bring our expertise to the table in designing and erecting this symbol of our state’s proud history and our ongoing role in space exploration.”

🚀 ARDMORE ROCKET RETURNING: The Saturn IB on I-65 is making a comeback in 2026!

💥 BIG BOOM UPDATE: Remember that explosion from earlier this week that rattled everyone’s windows? Two iconic rocket testing facilities at Marshall Space Flight Center were demolished on Saturday, January 10, + we’ve got the scoop 👇

🚀 The Dynamic Test Stand was the facility used for testing the Saturn V + Space Shuttle prior to their first flights
🏗️ The Propulsion + Structural Testing Facilities (or, “Building 4572”) was where the first single-stage rockets with multiple engines were tested
📜 Both structures were deemed National Historic Landmarks in 1985 for their roles in the Space Race
🌎 The demolition comes in preparation for future NASA Artemis missions

It looks like this came at a good time:
🧑‍🚀 Artemis will be the first crewed NASA mission to step foot on the Moon in over 50 years
🚀 Its first launch is scheduled for February 6!

Fun fact: The super-powered rocket engine taking Artemis to the moon was designed + engineered here in Huntsville at Marshall!

🖼️ NEW HSV MURAL: There’s a brand-new artwork in MidCity + we got to hear from the artist behind it! 👀

🧑‍🎨 Artist Christian Stanley () of Orlando, FL spent nearly a month crafting the mural
🤯 It covers 7,000 square feet (it’s 75 feet tall!) + uses over 18 individual paint colors

The mural was crafted intentionally, with hints to the Wellory’s environmental efforts being the star of the show 🌿
