Madison folks, your new place to grab coffee and catch up with a friend is here!

Coffee Off the Square, the Athens favorite with a loyal following, officially opened inside the Hogan Family YMCA this week. Handcrafted coffee, smoothies, açaí bowls, grab-and-go snacks, housemade syrups, fresh cut fruit, ethically sourced beans... the works. Perfect for the post-swim-lesson slump or the "I have 45 minutes to myself" window.

You don't have to be a member to stop in. It's open to the public, but YMCA members do get 10% off. (another great perk to joining the Y, just saying!)

Want your coffee order to do a some good in someone else's life? 15% of proceeds go to the Y's Annual Giving Campaign, which helps local families access programs and services they might not otherwise be able to afford. So your latte is helping you get through the day AND helping others too.

Go check it out and tell us what you ordered.

It is 95 degrees outside and we are posting the Fall Guide anyway. Because this is North Alabama and this is who we are.

The 2026 Fall Guide is officially out, and it's got every pumpkin patch, corn maze, festival, and trunk-or-treat we could find across the Tennessee Valley, all in one place. Some are brand new this year. Some you've loved since your oldest was in a stroller. All of them are worth the drive!

Huge shoutout to our Fall Guide sponsor Lyon Family Farms! When you stop by, be sure to tell them we said hey!

Head to the comments for the link for fall fun!

Ya'll know we are Christmas girlies around here so of course we were there with bells on for the Christmas Parade announcement! (Plus we wanted to put in a good word with Santa!)

This year's theme is A Rocket City Christmas and will be a celebration of our city, our communities, our landmarks, and the history we all share. The parade rolls December 1 at 6 pm, and heads up, there's a NEW route this year. Details on that coming soon, so don't go setting up your lawn chairs in the usual spot just yet.

Before the parade, Propst Arena turns into a kids fun zone with Santa, music, and games. Which means the little ones can burn off some energy before the main event.

Want to be IN the parade instead of just watching it? Registration is open now through the end of October. Floats, groups, marching bands, businesses, whoever you are, now's the time to sign up!

Mark the calendar. December 1. 6 pm. New route. Santa approved.

Happy September! You know what that means! It's almost pumpkin patch time!

Lyon Family Farms opens September 18 and runs through October 31, and season passes are on special THIS WEEK ONLY at $49.95.

What is waiting out there: u-pick pumpkins, u-pick sunflowers, corn maze, tractor rides, ziplining, the rat roller, cow train, pig races, rubber duck races, Coyote Mountain fun slides, pillow bounce, corn box, ball zone, petting zoo, and enough photo ops to fill a camera roll.

New this year... a Dig Zone and Jolene the micro Highland cow. She is very small and very fluffy and probably about to become your kid's favorite farm animal.

Season pass now, pumpkins later. Head to link in comments to get yours

Y'all... what a celebration.

Had a great time at the Artemis II celebration at Toyota Field, listening to the astronauts talk about their experience. Surreal to hear them thank the workers and see all the people standing who worked on the rocket. And loved how they had the family members of people who worked the program stand, and thanked them too.
Definitely one of those moments that makes you proud to be in the Rocket City.

Some of our favorite highlights of things the astronauts said

Christina Koch: "When we sat on your rocket, we said we are going for our teammates, and we meant you." She called the rocket a symbol of what we're doing, powerful and beautiful, chiseled with evidence of the intricacies of its engineering, a symbol of active human space exploration. She also said coming home wasn't complete until coming back here to Huntsville, because of the part Huntsville played.

Reid Wiseman, on the moment he would relive: that feeling of coming home knowing you did your job to the best of your ability.

Victor Glover's answer to why space exploration is important as not just an investment in society like with NASA Spinoffs but the chance to explore the unknown

And Christina's advice, which stuck: do what scares you. Safely. 🚀

Ever wonder what your baby is actually doing in there all day?

A 4D scan answers that. It is a live ultrasound that shows your baby moving in three dimensions, in real time. Yawning. Stretching. Putting a hand over their face because apparently they already have opinions about being photographed.

Advanced OBGYN offers 3D and 4D ultrasounds with several packages to choose from, and you can schedule them at multiple points in your pregnancy. Their technicians are nationally certified and work directly with their providers, so mom and baby are being looked after the whole time.

Worth knowing: these are elective, so insurance does not cover them and payment happens at the time of the scan. Every package comes with a USB of your photos and video.

Call 256-881-9997 to ask about packages and book your scan.

Anyone interested in 4 weeks of childcare for free??

Learning Zone Hampton Cove opens today on Taylor Road, just down from Goldsmith Schiffman. New families who enroll by September 30 get four weeks free, and since the center is brand new, you know there are openings!

They take 6 weeks through Pre-K, 7:00am to 6:00pm. The curriculum is their own and it is hands-on rather than worksheet driven, which is the correct call for anyone under five.

Our favorite part is their Seed-to-Table table. Kids grow food in the garden and then cook with it. They make their own salsa... actual salsa, from things they planted. How cool is that?
