HUNTSVILLE – Beginning Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, the new main bridge at FM 1374 and IH 45 will open to traffic, allowing drivers to cross IH 45 between the east and west sides of town and make left turns onto the frontage roads.

All lanes will not be opened immediately as there is still ongoing work, but drivers will be able to use the bridge for through movements and improved connectivity. Both u-turn bridges will also return to their normal function and reopen to traffic.

New traffic signals have been installed at the intersection and will be activated as part of this change. Because of the new signals, TxDOT asks that drivers remain alert and be aware of the new lights. Operations will be monitored for time signal adjustments, and we advise drivers to be patient while the intersection undergoes any fine-tuning.

HUNTSVILLE – Starting 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, the main lanes of IH 45 in Huntsville will close and will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. Traffic will be diverted to the IH 45 frontage roads until able to reenter IH 45. These closures are needed to pour concrete on the new FM 1374 bridge crossing IH 45.

Southbound Closure:
The IH 45 Southbound main lanes will close on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 8 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, Nov. 20. Traffic will be diverted to the IH 45 Frontage Road at Exit 115 (FM 1374/Montgomery Road) and will be able to re-enter IH 45 South at the entrance across from Huntsville Toyota.

Northbound Closure:
The IH 45 Northbound main lanes will close on Thursday, Nov. 20, beginning at midnight and reopening by 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20. Traffic will be diverted to IH 45 Frontage Road at Exit 114 (FM 1374/Montgomery Road) and will be able to reenter IH 45 north of Smither Drive.

FM 1374 Bridge Closure:
The FM 1374 roundabout bridge will be closed to traffic the night of Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. and will reopen by Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 a.m. Traffic needing to cross through the intersection will be diverted north to Smither Drive and south to Veteran’s Memorial Parkway.

Message boards will be in place advising drivers about the closure and law enforcement officers will be in place to help with the flow of traffic.
