The No. 4/4/4 Alabama football team leaned on its defense in front of a sold-out crowd at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, as the Crimson Tide (8-1, 6-0 SEC) took down LSU (5-4, 2-4 SEC) by a score of 20-9 on Saturday. The victory extended Alabama’s home winning streak to 17 games, the longest such streak in the country.
Ty Simpson was 21-of-35 through the air for 277 yards with one touchdown, adding four rushes for eight yards. Lotzeir Brooks hauled in four receptions for 67 yards, while Germie Bernard paced Alabama with 79 receiving yards across three catches. Bernard also completed one pass for 11 yards and recorded one rush or three yards.
The Tide defense didn’t allow a touchdown over 60 minutes, with Deontae Lawson leading all defenders with nine tackles, including half a tackle for loss. Yhonzae Pierre was again a force in the backfield, totaling two sacks to go with a forced fumble, and LT Overton also managed one sack among his two tackles. Bray Hubbard produced five tackles, one pass breakup and one forced fumble, with Nikhai Hill-Green collected five tackles as well as one tackle for loss and one forced fumble.
