It's time for a festive cocktail, and we have the perfect one you should try from The Scout Guide Fort Collins! This cranberry–rosemary sparkler is the kind of cocktail that instantly elevates any holiday gathering. Fragrant, jewel-toned, and beautifully balanced, it combines tart cranberries, herbal rosemary, and a hint of citrus to create a drink that feels both cozy and celebratory. The homemade rosemary-infused syrup adds an aromatic depth, while a splash of bubbles brings just the right amount of sparkle. Whether you’re hosting a fireside dinner or welcoming friends for a festive soirée, this cocktail is a vibrant addition to the season’s entertaining.

Cranberry–Rosemary Sparkler: A Festive Holiday Cocktail

Ingredients
For the Rosemary Syrup
½ cup fresh cranberries
½ cup water
½ cup sugar or honey
2–3 fresh rosemary sprigs
Zest of ½ orange

For the Cocktail
1½–2 oz vodka (or gin, if preferred)
1 oz rosemary–cranberry syrup
½ oz fresh orange or lemon juice
Sparkling water or prosecco, to top
Ice
Fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs, for garnish

Instructions

Make the Rosemary–Cranberry Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, water, sugar (or honey), rosemary sprigs, and orange zest.
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Reduce heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes, or until the cranberries begin to soften and burst.
Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for at least 10 minutes to deepen the flavor.
Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing gently on the solids.
Let the syrup cool completely before using. Refrigerate for up to a week.

Assemble the Cocktail
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add vodka, rosemary syrup, and fresh orange or lemon juice.
Shake vigorously until well chilled.
Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.
Top with sparkling water for a lighter cocktail—or prosecco for a festive, bubbly version.
Garnish with fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig.

Sip with friends and family at your next Holiday gathering!

We know what you’re thinking: How are we already in the midst of the holiday season? Why are we worrying about shopping?

We absolutely believe it’s important to live in the moment and enjoy each season as it comes, to be conscious of our communities, and not just thinking about consumption. But we’ve also begun to see holiday-themed emails trickling into our inboxes, so we wanted to take a moment to think about the weeks ahead and how we, as a network of small businesses and as members of communities that are fortunate to have them, can make holiday shopping more enjoyable and meaningful.

From tree lightings to Christmas parades, and strolls to local shops to see business owners who have become friends, holiday experiences always mean more when they are rooted in community. As we prepare for an undoubtedly busy season ahead, it’s important to remember the wonderful experiences in-store shopping can provide, and how lucky we are to live in places with vibrant local businesses who contribute to our towns—and our lives—in so many...
