It was nice to see Dr. Forney again for Spry’s biannual echocardiogram. He is just an all around nice guy, and always makes us feel welcomed and supported. Happy to update that there are no changes with Spry’s heart….all is same. We’ll take that as a WIN every time.
We had a nice conversation with Dr. Forney, but a couple things stood out to us. “In my 20 years as a cardiologist, I’ve never seen this condition in a dog.” Apparently, AVSD is more common in cats. Right after saying that, he brought in his intern to gawk at the images. “She basically has a 3 chamber heart. She’s the luckiest unlucky dog”, referring to her ability to tolerate her condition.
Spry amazes us everyday with her s***k and sass, a true Border Collie thru and thru. She Truly lives up to her name! ❤️

Hi y’all! It’s been awhile since we’ve updated or posted on Spry’s page. For that we truly apologize. We hope that you all have been staying safe and healthy throughout this crazy pandemic.
Thought we would update you on Spry and how she’s doing. As of now Spry still hasn’t had the surgery for her AVSD condition. First, it was postponed due to the pandemic. CSU wasn’t doing any surgery that wasn’t critical at the time. Since things have opened up a bit, we have been communicating with Dr. Orton at CSU and Dr. Forney here in Las Vegas. Both are cardiac specialists.
The surgery is very high risk. They feel that since Spry is tolerating her condition very well and her last two EKG’s have shown no change, that it was best to hold off. EKG’s every 6 months is our care plan for now.
Spry’s quality of life is superb, with no external signs of her condition. They encourage her to be active, but with limits and monitoring. She’s a happy girl that leads a typical Border Collie life of running, playing with her housemates, swimming and even a little flyball. While we watch her closely we are doing our best to let her live her best life.
The fundraising money still sits in her personal savings account. All of you amazing friends have been overwhelmingly supportive and our hearts are full because of your generosity. As we’ve said in the beginning, should surgery not be required, 100% of the money will be donated to a family in need at CSU veterinary hospital, preferably cardiac care.
Again, thank you all so much for your support and love. It is truly immeasurable. ❤️

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to all those that participated in Super Spry’s fundraiser last weekend at TNG’s flyball tournament in Hurricane, UT. Because of you, we were able to raise $1400! 100% of the money goes towards Spry’s surgery. Over 40 gift baskets were given away. The kids from various teams helped us pull the winning tickets. Thanks kids! Thank you TNG for sacrificing a weekend to help put the baskets together. We love our flyball family and community. We are overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. ❤️. So far, because of all of you, we have raised close to $7,500 in total.
