Texas Red Productions

Texas Red Productions Darleen Dixon is Texas Red Productions. Professional Radio Disc Jockey/Voice Talent; Photographer; Writer; Artist. It was there that I learned to silk screen.

This page is a potpourri of my favorite things, mainly devoted to my love of Americana & Texas/Red Dirt music and my photography. I have been called a "Jill of all trades," which is pretty accurate. I first fell in love with radio listening to my Tom & Jerry transistor while walking to & from school in San Antonio, Texas when I was in first grade. I have been drawing all my life, taught myself emb

roidery & needlecrafts by reading books starting when I was about 7. I got my first camera around 9 years old, just before my family moved to the Dominican Republic for a short time, then on the Madrid, Spain. Many of those early photos feature architecture and nature, as well as candid shots of family & friends. I learned to tie-dye & run a sewing machine in home economics in 6th grade on Torrejon AFB. Living overseas also deepened my radio love, because we didn't have English speaking media, outside of Armed Forces Radio- I'd wait for Casey Kasem's countdown all week, and listen to old radio serials like "The Shadow" in between. I have been an avid reader all of my life, which explains my interest in writing. After graduating from Smithson Valley High School in Spring Branch, TX, I attended Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Tx, where I studied interior design & textile arts. Later I went on to San Antonio College, where I studied Radio, Television & Film. Been in radio ever since, and did plenty of radio related photography, plus picked up a few writing gigs along the way- I have been featured in Lone Star Music Magazine, and spent a year as a staff member on the Aransas Pass Progress/ Ingelside Index newspapers. Soooo...that's how I came to do all this stuff!

HUDDLESTON — Even though Willie Nelson probably is not the first name people associate with the holidays, a 15-foot-tall hay sculpture of the country music singer this year is center stage of an annual holiday tradition in Huddleston.

Hayes tells ‘em how the cow chews the cabbage.

We had an agreement, a part of my audience and I. We never exactly spelled it out, but now I can see the terms. I would play music, make people laugh, cry, and dance, but be vague enough in my songwriting and in my persona to allow them to overlook anything that didn’t jive with who they wanted me...
