In our ongoing “Who is WCESD #3?” series, we’re continuing to explain how Williamson County ESD #3 (Hutto Fire Rescue) is structured and how decisions are made within our district.
WCESD #3 is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, appointed by the elected members of the Williamson County Commissioners Court. The Board provides financial oversight and sets the strategic direction for the District, helping ensure taxpayer resources are used responsibly and effectively. While appointed, the Board is ultimately accountable to the citizens of our District through transparent governance and public oversight.
The Fire Chief serves as the District’s Chief Executive Officer, leading daily operations and working with the Board and District personnel to ensure our services meet the needs of the community.
This governance model is common in local government and is designed to provide both community-focused oversight and professional management.
As a public entity, WCESD #3 operates under Texas open government laws. Board meetings are open to the public, budgets and financial records are publicly available, and major decisions are made in transparent public sessions.
Our mission remains rooted in service, transparency, accountability, and providing exceptional emergency services to the communities we protect.
