Back in September of 2021, a true passion project from Growroom Productions' co-founder, Lee Durham, was completed and released after 4+ years of planning, ex*****on and collaboration to bring his vision to life. A song-for-song cover of the classic album Cure for Pain from seminal 90's band Morphine, featuring a handful of DC's most prestigious acts, luminaries from the Growroom Galaxy, and one of NYC's most eccentric bandleaders. We gave 100% of the profits from that run of CDs and digital releases to Public Justice Center, amassing over $1200 to stand up for the rights of underserved communities through legal advocacy.
Now we're back to celebrate the five year anniversary with a vinyl release and another round of donations. The vinyl is brought to us by Elastic Stage, which has pioneered an eco-friendly vinyl which uses PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) instead of PVC, which is normally used in vinyl record production. PETG uses less energy to produce, is easier to recycle, and avoids chlorine-based chemicals used in PVC. And Elastic Stage prints on demand, which means they are not running hundreds of the same record in batches and will only print once one is purchased.
We will have only 20 copies available on our Bandcamp starting now, and those will ship from our HQ in Hyattsville, MD. After those are gone, ordering and shipping must be done through Elastic Stage which produces in the UK and therefore shipping costs will reflect that inception point.
This time we will be donating a portion of the vinyl profits and 100% of the digital profits to Public Justice Center. Since Bandcamp allows you to pay more if you like, that will help to maximize the donation amount.
