Wonder Food Hall opened in College Park last week, offering several new dining options under one roof. Located at 7423 Baltimore Ave., in the space that previously housed the Bagel Place, the fast-growing corporate chain looks to capitalize on the food hall trend by bringing together virtual chain restaurants, including some backed by celebrity chefs. The College Park location includes a Bobby Flay-backed steakhouse, a Marcus Samuelsson fried chicken spot, and a Greek restaurant by Michael Symon. https://bit.ly/4oP5oFp -

A new street mural outside Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier brings a mix of colors to the area. Named “Solstice Glow,” the mural of native flowers by the artists at Chalk Riot is a temporary street mural made in June. The Neighborhood Design Center, which helped get the art painted through its Made You Look! program, called it “a bold, geometric mural that doesn’t just brighten the street” but also “slows traffic, sparks pride, and reflects the energy of Mount Rainier.” https://bit.ly/48eebL5 -

A new mural in Hyattsville features a dog wearing sunglasses with a Maryland flag bandana. Located on the side of the SoHy building, the mural is a little hidden to the average passerby, viewable near the roof only if you are walking east on Gallatin Street. It was painted on Friday by artist Erick Satchell, who runs Gremlins Tattoo Lounge inside, and tattoo artist Marissa Slater, as part of a collaboration with building owner Daniel Simon. https://bit.ly/3JMLkEu -

Immigration and Customs Enforcement might soon move into a building in or near Hyattsville. In October, the federal agency issued a contract for “administrative office space in support of law enforcement operations” to be located within a five-mile radius of the Hyattsville city limits. According to the contract, the space must be in Prince George’s County, which is home to more than 227,000 Hispanic residents, or roughly 14 percent of the county’s total population. https://bit.ly/43lQrSB -

The city of Hyattsville renamed a forested area around Driskell Park after the Native Americans who once lived in the area. The land was previously known as Magruder Woods, after the landowner who also donated Magruder Park, which was later renamed in honor of artist David Driskell. During the discussion about renaming the park due to a racist restriction in the deed, several Hyattsville residents had suggested Nacotchtank. https://bit.ly/4nNxMq7 -

The property is home to two 63,000-square-foot buildings built in the late 1960s, one of which is home to the nonprofit Sarvis Cafe training site. Though no plans to redevelop the land have been made public, the sale is a strong indicator that developers are interested in properties near Purple Line stations. The long-awaited light-rail line is set to open in 2027. https://bit.ly/43lQ36B -
