GO STATUS — EVACUATE NOW

All homes and campgrounds north of Heise, extending north to Lyons Creek Road/10000 South and east to 7000 East, just west of Luthy Meadows, are now under an evacuation order.

🔥 Fire is threatening the area. Leave immediately. Do not delay or attempt to remain in the area.

⚠️ Please listen to and follow the instructions of deputies and fire personnel. These directions are in place to keep everyone safe and allow emergency crews to operate effectively.

When it’s hot for you …. It’s hot for them too. Buy em one of those swanky patriotic cooling ascots if ya have to. Make sure they have plenty of water … shade if available …. And never ever … on a day like today … take them for a walk on blacktop. If it’s too hot for your bare feet …. It’s too hot for theirs …Seriously… if you think YOU’RE hot …. Put on a parka ….

Just for future reference……..

Every Fourth of July…….. you’ll hear Martina McBride’s Independence Day blasting from parade floats…….. fireworks shows…….. and patriotic playlists.

The title makes it sound like a celebration of America’s birthday.

It isn’t………

The song is actually about a woman trapped in an abusive home…….. told through the eyes of her daughter…….. where the Fourth of July becomes her Independence Day…….. her escape from abuse.

It has become one of country music’s most misunderstood songs…….. not because people ignore the lyrics…….. but because the chorus is so powerful that many never realize what the verses are really saying.

That doesn’t make it any less of a masterpiece…….. if anything…….. it makes it even more powerful.

Sometimes the most unforgettable songs tell stories that deserve to be heard…….. not just sung………

I was at an event yesterday for one of our sister stations. The Blackfoot Ranch Rodeo.

We’re joined by traditional dancers from the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes from Fort Hall.

The final night is tonight. It’s a cool event with leather craftsmen and handmade saddles, tack and other gear.
