NewLine Media There is no greater channel of communication than video. Tyson Bolkcom began NewLine Media as a side hustle around 2016, following his graduation from college.

With his new degree emphasis in video production, he was determined to put his skills, his passion, and his creative drive to use. His first position in video production came in early 2017, as a full time in-house media producer for an Idaho-based retail company. He learned and grew through that position for three years, simultaneously building his side-hustle video production business. Ultimately

, in what can only be defined as a perfect storm of opportunity, Tyson found himself in an immense layoff during the 2020 Covid 19 breakout, and unemployed indefinitely. He found opportunity in this circumstance to test the waters of self-employment. Over time, this testing of the waters evolved into a full swim. Working from home transitioned into working out of an office. Working primarily for local clients evolved to include national clients and international projects. As the owner and operator of NewLine Media, Tyson is a firm proponent of the creative expression of communication, especially as it applies to the business world. And he believes that there is no greater channel of communication than that of visual media, namely, video. As a business owner, he can empathize with his colleagues who may struggle to communicate their vision through words alone, as eloquent or well versed as they may be. He recognizes that some things are best seen, best experienced visually. Tyson works exclusively with video because he believes in the powerful potential video has, not only as a flashy way to promote yourself. It’s the single greatest communication tool in the world. It is the greatest way to reach your audience in the omnipresent space of the internet, and make countless connections with those you aim to serve with minimaleffort on your part. It’s the strongest tool to build attraction, trust, and clarity in the service you provide. And it provides the most engaging experience possible for your audience, on a logic and emotional level. Fun fact, possibly my favorite NON-VIDEO PRODUCTION related course I took in college was an advanced writing class. I had an excellent professor who got me excited about the process of flowing ideas and steering emotion through writing. I enjoy every chance I get to implement that into my video marketing strategy.

My Story

I've been doing video work since high school. My friends and I would make improvised 2-3 minute movies, and I was sometimes lucky enough to do a video for a class assignment. When I got to college and learned they actually offered courses in film and visual media, I quickly changed my major and, over the course of my time there, took every class they offered, and graduated in 2016 with an emphasis in video production. It was around that time that I changed the brand under which I was doing freelance video work, to "NewLine Videography."

My first batches of paid work primarily consisted of realty videos, music videos, and wedding videos. I still take these categories as they come, but am also positioning myself in the field of video marketing solutions for small businesses, which has so far worked very well for me.
