Return to the Beginning…
Warrior Innkeeper Comics was founded in the fall of 2009, when I was technically homeless.
Recently divorced, suffering from severe depression and PTSD from my time in Iraq with the U.S.Army, and have lost my house due to an unjust foreclosure during the crash the year before, I was living on a couch in my buddy’s converted garage.
I had damn near nothing else to lose!
I bet it all on fulfilling my childhood dream of creating comics.
In 2013, I pursued commission work and created several comic books for City of Independence, Oregon .
By 2015, I felt the need to up my game and transformed my business from a publishing imprint to a marketing and graphic design business - with publishing on the side - as Warrior Innkeeper Creative (ditch “Comics” for a less specific nomenclature).
Then burnout hit me, hard! I packed up my dream and accepted defeat. Leaving my company in a hiatus state, I got a job working for The Man.
The pandemic hit a couple years later and everything went on pause.
Hard lessons learned and an exhilarating boost of will, I unlocked my dreams from the chest I had mistakenly put away. They are as beautiful and freeing as ever!
This new year came with new vigor! I am coming into it with a focus of mission that can only be gained by the experience and failure. I have a clear vision of what I want for Warrior Innkeeper in 2023 and beyond. It begins at the beginning!
