Dropping Anchor in Indian Head, MD

A neighbor Jonathon was involved in a head-on collision by someone flying down our local highway on the wrong side of the road DURING RUSH HOUR (around 5pm) 3 days before Christmas. The other car was registered in another state and was seriously under insured when this other driver caused and was killed in this terrible accident. Johnathan (a veteran) was seriously injured, car destroyed, but the most heartbreaking part is the loss of his service companion. Three other dogs in the car survived with injuries and hefty vet bills. This man not only has to deal with this aftermath, but he will not be able to work for over a year during his recovery.

We hope that you can help this young man and his surviving 3 fur kiddos. We haven't met this neighbor yet, but come on ... 4 dog's means he must be one compassionate human being. Let's band together and help our fellow neighbors in their time of need.

✨ Happy New Year — welcome to 2026! ✨

We kicked off the year with an incredible hike around Friendship Farm in Nanjemoy, and it was a powerful reminder of just how lucky we are to live here.

This place doesn’t shut down after fall — it’s a year-round wonderland. As we rounded a bend on the lower trail, a herd of nearly 20 white-tailed deer came charging up the hill toward the barns. Rare. Wild. And the perfect way to start the New Year.

Next up, a hike with one of our Indian Head neighbors (and adopted family) — co-owner of the Honey Bun Cake Factory in Bryans Road — plus their epic fur monster. The trail led us to a windswept overlook of Lorton, VA, right along the Potomac River. Even in the cold, the view was pure magic.

I honestly can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Notice the small moments — the neighborly waves, kids filling our parks with laughter and basketball, or a family stroll along the rail trail. Head toward Hawthorne Road for stunning views of Mattawoman Creek. And come summer? The lotus blossoms turn the water into a sea of flowers. That’s something special — and worth celebrating.

Our wish for 2026 is simple:
That you find the same peace, joy, and connection in the Town of Indian Head that we’ve found. Get outside. Explore. Repeat. 🌿💛

Good Bye 2025 and Welcome 2026

We’re proud to be residents of the little but mighty town of Indian Head, Maryland.

It’s a place that hasn’t quite realized how special it really is—not because it lacks value, but because its value isn’t flashy. Indian Head doesn’t shout for attention. It doesn’t try to impress you as you pass through. And that’s exactly the point.

Indian Head is not a drive-thru community.

You don’t end up here by accident. You don’t pass through on the way to somewhere “better.” You come to Indian Head for a reason.

This is a purpose-driven community.

People come here to work, to raise families, to serve, to create, to find a quieter rhythm, to belong to something that feels grounded and real. There’s history in the soil, resilience in the streets, and a deep sense of continuity that connects generations. The town asks something of you—but it also gives back in ways that aren’t always obvious at first glance.
