The Day Robin Williams Made a Grieving Gorilla Smile Again ❤️🦍
We all know the pain of losing a best friend. For Koko the gorilla, that loss was devastating.

Koko, famous for communicating in sign language, had been in deep mourning for months after her beloved kitten companion, All Ball, died. The staff at The Gorilla Foundation said she hadn't genuinely smiled or laughed in over six months. Nothing could break through her grief.

Then, a miracle worker arrived: Robin Williams.
When Robin visited Koko in 2001, he didn’t just observe her; he connected with her. Using his signature playful energy and humor, he engaged Koko through glass, making silly faces and signing with her.

And within minutes, Koko did something remarkable.
She laughed. She smiled.
The sheer power of connection, compassion, and humor broke through months of profound sorrow. It’s a beautiful reminder that empathy knows no species, and laughter truly can be the best medicine.
