After years of redesigns, extensions and financing challenges, the Dream Hotel has reached another critical juncture.
Palm Springs has formally placed developer Selene Palm Springs LLC in default after it missed a July 30 deadline to establish a guaranteed maximum construction price. The city's notice gives the developer an opportunity to cure the default, but also says Palm Springs could move to repurchase the 7.8-acre property if it is not resolved.
And the next deadlines are coming quickly: financing is scheduled to close Sept. 30, and construction is supposed to begin Oct. 1.
