Renowned New Orleans clarinetist Doreen Ketchens has been named an Edward R. Sims Distinguished Artist by IUP.

And this Saturday, Ketchens brings the sounds of the Crescent City to Fischer Auditorium for a FREE performance! This exciting performance takes place at 7:30pm, and includes accompaniment by the IUP University Band and the IUP Jazz Band.

Backstreet Records has been a supporter of WIUP for many years. We always jump at the opportunity to work with them, and Saturday November 15th is our next opportunity!

This cool record popup is happening at Commonplace Coffee (another favorite of ours) from 12-5. We'll be providing music and doing a few giveaways of our own. And Backstreet is bringing some of their other friends too - it's a great way to engage with a bunch of independent local businesses in one go. Stop by, say hi, snag some records, and enjoy this cool community event!

We stand in solidarity with our colleagues at WCSB (now XCSB 89.3fm) at Cleveland State University.

Last month, CSU administration abruptly informed students and staff that the station was being handed over to Ideastream, a regional chain broadcaster. Moments later, campus police arrived to evacuate the studios.

WCSB was in the midst of celebrating its 50th anniversary and gearing up for a reunion, only to have this news come down on World College Radio Day.

Have you ever wondered which college radio stations have the best DJs in the country? We've got two of them right here at WIUP!

This past weekend, College Broadcasters Incorporated held their annual National Student Media Convention in Denver, Colorado. At this year's awards ceremony, WIUP brought home TWO awards in the "Best DJ" category. Our Afternoon Producer Brooke Veith earned Third Place for her program Vintage With Veith (Mondays 11a-1p)! And Station Manager Fox Empson brought home FIRST PLACE for his show, For Fox's Sake (Fridays 11a-1p)!

So yes, you can hear two of the country's very best college DJs right here on WIUP. Congratulations Brooke and Fox!
