Meet Emebet Aklilu: Head Of Tracks
Emebet Aklilu is a dynamic and visionary leader in the fields of diversity, inclusion, and outreach within healthcare and higher education. She holds a dual master's degree in public health and behavioral health from the University of San Francisco, where she also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
As the Director of Operations for the Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach office at the UCSF School of Nursing, Emebet leads with a transformational approach, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. She spearheads strategic initiatives that cultivate equity, inclusion, and belonging across faculty, staff, and student communities. By developing culturally responsive programming, implementing employee engagement strategies, and leveraging data-driven insights, she ensures that diversity and inclusion efforts lead to meaningful, sustainable change.
Emebet is deeply committed to shifting the narrative around racial bias in healthcare. Through cross-functional partnerships and interdisciplinary collaboration, she works to dismantle systemic barriers, elevate underrepresented voices, and drive institutional change. Her leadership philosophy centers on empowering others, fostering inclusive decision-making processes, and creating environments where diverse perspectives are valued and thrive.
