Issue 3 is just about ready to head to the printers, so we thought it would be a good time to introduce our newest featured artist: Abigail Brewer!!

Abigail is an Indy artist whose work catches your eye, and stays in your mind. From surrealist/twisted portraits to her recent acclaim of painting tornadoes, Abigail blew us away with her work. Follow her on IG and TikTok to see her painting videos which have started getting a lot of attention from storm chasers, broadcast meteorologists, and Midwest dads who love standing on the porch as massive storms roll in.

Abigail is also the first contributor that we will have recorded interviews with on our website! Issue 3 will have an excerpt, but you’ll have to listen online for the deep dives into her process, inspirations, and love of tornadoes!

While we’re still working on the layout for Issue 3, the cover art has been decided! We know there’s a lot of love for our previous covers and it’s always hard to choose one. For us editors, it’s what we debate and enjoy the most in the process.

We always want the covers of Dogwood Alchemy to catch your eye and draw you in. Issue 3 will be no exception, and we hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.

We are a volunteer magazine with the mission of promoting the work of amazing writers and artists throughout Indiana and the Midwest, and finding ways to uplift marginalized and at-risk communities while doing it.
