🤘 THE MOUNTAIN 2026: ROCK ’N’ ROLL TAKES OVER THE SMOKIES ⛰️🔥
First and foremost, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by the Eonian Records booth to say hello, talk music, and pick up a CD! We loved meeting so many fellow rock fans, seeing familiar faces, making new friends, and sharing the music we’re so passionate about. Your support of Eonian Records and the artists we work with means more to us than you know. Thank you for making us part of an incredible weekend! 🤘💿❤️
For one long August weekend, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, stopped feeling like a Smoky Mountain tourist town and started looking a whole lot like the Sunset Strip circa 1989.
The Mountain Music Festival brought three days of hard rock, heavy metal, big choruses and even bigger personalities to Gatlinburg, a gathering where the line between concert, reunion and pop-culture time machine became wonderfully blurred.
Following is a summary of the weekend by Ryan & Tammy, who both said they throughly enjoyed the entire weekend! 🔥🔥
🎸 FRIDAY 👉 AUGUST 21
Opening day came loaded. Stephen Pearcy & Warren DeMartini reunited around the music of RATT, while former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach delivered the kind of larger-than-life presence that made him one of his generation’s defining frontmen.
Lynch Mob brought the guitar fire, followed by Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts, Reb Beach, Tora Tora, The Cruel Intentions, Ted Poley, Wildstreet, Soto/Bieler, Rebels Opera, Stone Wh***ey, Luke Robert, and Love No Lost.
It was less an opening night than a full-scale celebration of the era when guitars were loud and MTV still played music.
🔥 SATURDAY 👉 AUGUST 22
Saturday belonged to some serious heavyweights!
Night Ranger, Jackyl, Lita Ford, Mike Tramp’s White Lion, Vandenberg, Bullet Boys, Dangerous Toys, Crazy Lixx, Bad Marriage, Hoekstra/Gibbs, and Given Evick.
The weekend also delivered an unexpected turn when scheduled headliner Bret Michaels was forced to cancel after doctors advised him to continue recovering from recent health issues. Get well soon, Bret! 🙏
⚡ SUNDAY 👉 AUGUST 23
Then came a Sunday lineup that could have been pulled straight from an ’80s radio dial.
Rick Springfield closed the festival, preceded by Southern-rock legends 38 Special, WARRANT, John Waite, VIXEN, SteelHeart, and Soto/Beiler.
From Springfield’s power-pop catalog to 38 Special’s Southern-rock anthems and John Waite’s unmistakable voice, Sunday broadened The Mountain beyond metal into a celebration of an entire generation of rock.
📺 AND THEN THERE WERE THE FAMILIAR FACES…
Part of The Mountain’s charm was never knowing who you might bump into between sets.
Rock-radio institution Eddie Trunk was back as an official host alongside former That Metal Show personalities Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson, with pioneering rock DJ Nikki Blakk helping hold court.
And around Gatlinburg during the weekend was a genuine piece of television and movie history: Lou Ferrigno, television’s original Incredible Hulk, adding another layer of pop-culture nostalgia to an already surreal weekend.
There were guitar clinics with players including George Lynch, Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, comedy, artist appearances, late-night events and enough musicians wandering the halls to make simply walking through the convention center part of the show.
That may be what makes The Mountain so special. Rock ’n’ roll was never supposed to feel distant.
Here, the musicians, fans, radio personalities and icons of the era share the same hallways. You can watch someone who filled arenas decades ago tear through a classic song, then run into them walking around the festival later that afternoon.
For three days, Gatlinburg became rock ’n’ roll’s class reunion.
The faces may be older. The stories are certainly longer.
But once the amps came on?
1989 didn’t feel very far away. 🤘🔥⛰️
