Appian Media Resources, Inc. was incorporated in 2016 as a 501c3 not-for-profit organization in response to the growing need to re-engage people with the life-changing power of the Bible, by creating biblically accurate, visually engaging content that

is free to the world. The name "Appian Media" originates from the Roman roadway known as "The Appian Way," built in the 1st century. This road was the most impressive of its kind and opened up huge opportunities for travel, commerce, and for military campaigns. This road, however, while originally designed for worldly pursuits, was used by the 1st century Christians to bring the gospel to places that were not easily accessible before. They used whatever avenues were available to them to further the cause of Christ. (Acts 25:18)

By taking advantage of the “Appian Way of our time”; the roadways of the internet and media, this content is designed to be distributed into many places around the world where traditional evangelism would be difficult or even impossible.

Our team got up early to travel about an hour and a half to Cenchrea (Acts 18) to film at what remains of the harbor — a truly beautiful spot! Enoch, our Director of Photography, spent the trip crafting some incredible shots, and this location was no different. After searching for the perfect angle, he found it just a few steps out into the Aegean Sea for our final interview. These interviews will close out Part One of the series, so it was absolutely worth it!

Just a few minutes away lies the city of Corinth and its sprawling ancient archaeological park — easily the largest and most impressive we visited on the trip. There was so much history here, as Paul spent a year and a half during his second missionary journey and had a close relationship with the elders of the church. We walked the Lechaion Road, visited the expansive agora, and discussed Paul being brought before Gallio, the proconsul of Achaia. One afternoon was definitely not enough to see it all!

We ended the longest production trip our team has ever made with a powerful interview between Jeremy and Justin, discussing the two letters Paul wrote to the Corinthians. Sitting in ancient Corinth, reflecting on the Christians who lived, struggled, and grew there just as we do today, it felt like a perfect way to close out this unforgettable journey.

We thank God for everyone who made this trip possible, and we can’t wait to share it with you all in the coming months!

Our time in Athens started pre-dawn as we climbed up to the Acropolis for one of the most iconic views of the city. We were granted about 45 minutes of early access before the crowds arrived and filmed an important scene while watching the sunrise. As we descended, we saw hundreds of tourists filling the area and were once again thankful to God for our guides and fixers and their incredible ability to make our paths clear.

The rest of the morning was spent visiting Mars Hill and areas of the ancient city where Dr. Mark Wilson, Jeremy, and Justin shared about Paul speaking with the Areopagus in Acts 17. Paul observed their many altars, including one “to the Unknown God,” and used it to proclaim the truth of the gospel — that the One True God made the heavens and the earth, and that all people are called to repent because He has appointed a day to judge the world through Jesus, whom He raised from the dead. Being in that space and considering Paul’s evangelistic approach was truly moving!

After lunch, we visited a few more spots around the city to capture additional b-roll and wrapped earlier than expected. This gave our team a chance to explore the modern city of Athens and pick up gifts and souvenirs for family back home. We knew this would likely be our last opportunity before the final day of filming, which promised to be full!
