I am obsessed with this new shield frond that has recently formed on this baby staghorn. We purchased it maybe 8-10 months ago and it had no shield frond at all. I literally stare at it and marvel at this amazing growth.

My children ages 15 and 17 have both told me they don’t like it as I watch them leave for school each morning. My daughter drives away, my son rides his e-bike. I tend to stare after them until they turn out of sight. They look at me and say, “don’t watch!”

Do you watch your children leave? Do you have a plant you stare at mesmerized by its beauty or new growth?
Is this what happens at middle age?

If there was a houseplant equivalent of cockroaches surviving a nuclear fallout out- What houseplant would it be? My vote is the aloe! This bad boy has survived an entire winter in our Michigan cottage with inside temps around 50 degrees, no water and very little sun. What is your against all odds , thrives with neglect houseplant that is still alive despite its poor circumstances?!

My two must haves for a delicious summer! Fresh basil and nasturtiums. This flower is edible along with its leaves and makes any salad or cheese plate impressive! Herbs are easy to grow in pots if you don’t have a lot of space or energy for a bigger garden!

Is anyone else so excited about on Saturday?! This is the third annual- but will be my first time! Peonies are my absolute favorite flower and of course the state flower of Indiana! You can even bring a single peony flower stem to enter into a contest! I used my peonies to create this gorgeous prom nose gay bouquet for my daughter last weekend. I hope to see many of you there!

Mother’s Day weekend! Remember to shop small this weekend- it’s alarming how many small local plant shops are closing or downsizing. We know the big guys have cheaper prices- but they are multi million and billion dollar companies. They can afford to make razor thin margins.
You mom, grandma, aunt, sister, friend- would love a gorgeous premium hanging basket- like this one, grown here in Indianapolis and available

Go big for that special mom in your life and do good by supporting your local garden and plant shop!

Plant perennials! This gorgeous garden takes minimal effort! Our favorite is the native Jacob wheeler honeysuckle on the fence. The pollinators love it!

The garden is mostly painted ferns, heuchera (coral bells) and astilbe. The tree is a lace leaf Japanese maple. Everything has reached maturity-so there is little space for weeds to creep in. Remember to plant with mature size in mind!

I over summered some amaryllis bulbs last year- this one just finally bloomed! And wow was it worth the wait! When we were in Costa Rica for spring break I saw some amaryllis blooming by the side of the road- I had never seen them before in the wild!
Do you have a plant you were ready to give up on - but surprised you in the end?
Any plant that is an annual or houseplant here blow your socks off when you saw it in its native habitat?

Grow your own flowers! Lilacs and Peonies are some of the easiest and most gorgeous blooms to grow. You need to give them 2-3 years to start producing harvestable flowers and they need to be planted in full sun! These are perennials- so they will comeback bigger and better each year! For the cost of one large flower arrangement (or less) you can have flowers every spring! I know has them in stock!

More botanical wallpaper inspiration! This one is from and this is my second home I’ve used this paper in the dining room.

The wallpaper is called “hummingbirds” and I thought it would serve as a good reminder to fill up your clean hummingbird feeders as they arrive in central Indiana in mid- April!

The recipe for hummingbird nectar is 1:4 ratio of sugar to water. 1 cup of sugar to 4 cups of water- make sure to boil briefly and then allow to cool. Change the food and clean your feeder every 2-4 weeks.

Swipe to see more of my dining room. custom built the china cabinets and painted them to match the wallpaper ♥️

Our Story

Our garden shop sits on 3 acres of grounds with two dedicated retail spaces. Our largest building is stocked with most of what you need for the outdoor care of plants and gardening, while our smaller shop is filled with gorgeous houseplants and indoor gardening items. We have a vintage greenhouse on site that we use as retail space for our herbs and tomatoes. We are continuing to renovate the property to provide inspiration spaces for our customers.
