Original email from shelter requesting help for Alice:

“Alice is still in need of a foster or to be adopted very soon. Please share.

Alice is a 7-8 year old german shepherd who was dumped out in the county a few months ago and never claimed by her owner. Alice has a mammary tumor, heart worm positive, and is also infected with 2 tick borne diseases. This is a huge financial burden.
This could have been prevented or at the very least lowered her chances drastically by spaying her early in life and by having her on preventatives.

Alice is now in desperate need of a rescue or a home to take on that financial burden in order to save/prolong her life. We had a few leads of interested rescues but all have fell through. This is our last attempt pleading for help to save Alice. We are at capacity, and can no longer hold her here waiting. Please share so that Alice can find a rescue or a home where she can get the care that she needs and live what’s left of her life loved.” - North Vernon

Alice came in as hospice sanctuary with heart worms, tick-borne disease, and a mammary tumor.

I just ordered Starlink internet for the kennel so at least I have coverage there and a back-up service. This way I can also monitor the dogs outside if I need to run elsewhere on the property.

However, I am STILL without internet service from Xfinity. 👎 Been waiting almost a week. Second appointment with another technician tomorrow.

Now, we’ll see which provider is best. I’ll probably have Starlink set-up before Xfinity.

Hard to run a business without internet.

Found this cable box on the ground. I’m not an expert but this doesn’t look good.

🐾Grimm UPDATE:

Dr. Mills doesn’t believe that surgery is required at this time but is waiting to hear back from the radiologist to confirm.

I’m waiting to hear results before I go pick him up. If he needs surgery, he’ll stay overnight.

If he doesn’t need surgery at this time, I’ll gather more information from Dr. Mills to share the long-term plan.

Grimm is just a big pup looking for a party. He’s a goofy boy and good with other dogs! Don’t let his medical issue scare you. From experience, someone of medical cases have been the greatest shepherds. I’ve never regretted loving them.

The rescue will be implementing a $20 Application Fee which is non-refundable. If applicant adopts, the application fee will be deducted from the adoption fee.

I have to cut down on wasted time. I’m working 9am until 2am most days. That’s correct. Anyone who knows me, knows this is a fact. I don’t know of any rescue who has the time to waste honestly.

At least this way, if an applicant doesn’t show or cancels, I can at least buy a bag of dog treats.
