The Forever Young Club had a great turn out this evening 🎨!

Craft Days give them space to relax, try something new, connect with others, and simply have fun!

The sun catchers were a hit and everyone’s creation turned out so creative! Stay tuned for next month’s meet up.

Crafts Days are every 3rd Friday for ages 55+, 6p-7p, and free of charge. Powered by the City Of Lawrence.

Hi Crafties!

There’s rain in the forecast, and after touring Black House Café, the space is just a little too cozy to comfortably accommodate all of our crafties if we were to move it indoors. 

So, we’re taking our creative vibes right down the road (literally) at our normal hangout spot: Switchboard! 🎨✨

Our date and time will remain the same; only the location is changing. Switchboard gives us the indoor space we need to spread out, create comfortably, and enjoy refreshments without worrying about the weather.

Tis the season (well almost) to get cozy for scrap booking, collage making, and combining it all in one to create coasters 🍂🍁🍃.

Creative art enrichment for older adults is about keeping the mind engaged, hands moving, and people connected.

Creating can support fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, encourage cognitive stimulation, provide an outlet for self-expression, and offer a calming way to reduce stress. Just as importantly, it gives older adults opportunities to socialize, try something new, build confidence, and discover a hobby or passion they may not have known they had.

Our seniors deserve more than activities to simply fill their time. They deserve creative experiences that give them something to look forward to, something they can be proud of, and opportunities to continue learning and creating.

That’s why senior creative art enrichment is such an important part of Craft Connections.

Each month, Craft Connections brings their own themed sip & paint to a retirement community, giving residents something fun, creative, and social to look forward to.

Our monthly sessions encourage social connection, self-expression, fine motor skills, focus, confidence, and stress relief. Residents get to make their own creative choices, enjoy conversation with their neighbors, and leave with something they’re proud to show off and hang on the wall.

Seeing the familiarity grow month after month. We laugh, we talk, we create, and we build community.

Creative enrichment doesn’t have an age limit. Our seniors deserve opportunities to create, connect, learn, and simply have FUN, too.

That’s why I keep coming back every month. This month’s theme was fall as residents enjoyed apple cider & cookies to create the perfect canvas.

In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, matches had the opportunity to decorate their very own leaf ornament for “Leaves for Larry” as a special way to say thank you to Larry for welcoming everyone year after year to his private 50+ acres of land and farm.

Each leaf is filled with bright colors, little messages, creativity, and LOTS of personality. Thus creating a leaf garland for him to hang on his land in remembrance of the space he has created for them annually.

Crafting is always fun, but crafting with meaning, connection, and gratitude makes it even better.

Thank you, BBBSCI, for allowing Craft Connections to create a special moment that’ll have an ever lasting impact on Larry & his family.
