Here’s a fun bit of trivia…

Our agency director, Scott Tucker, attended a fundraiser this weekend in his hometown of Wi******er, Indiana. This is a small town of about 5,000 people that got hit by a tornado last year.

Pictured with Scott is Marlene King. Marlene grew up Wi******er as well. She wrote a novel called “The Gaslight Addition,” which was the name of the neighborhood she grew up in. Although the novel was fiction, it was inspired by her experiences with her friends over a summer in 1970.

The book would be made into a movie, which Marlene wrote the screenplay and served as a producer. It would be retitled to “Now and Then.” Released in 1995, it starred Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Demi Moore, Rosie O’Donnell, Melanie Griffith, Rita Wilson, Cloris Leachman and other stars.

It is referred to as Shelby, Indiana in the film, but it’s inspired by Wi******er. And for those familiar with the movie, many elements are real, including a grave marked “Our Jonnie.”

The Gaslight Addition was hit hard by the tornado, including her childhood home. So, in honor of the film’s 30th anniversary, the town put on the “Now and Then Days” Festival, including this fundraiser for recovery efforts.

Marlene returned to Wi******er to be involved in festivities and lend her support. And she couldn’t have been nicer and more appreciative. She has since had a great career, most known for developing the tv series “Pretty Little Liars.” She is working on a new series now for Netflix.

We thought it was interesting and wanted to share. You never know what history or connections lie in our small towns across America.

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month. We wanted to take a moment to celebrate all of our talent, families, production partners and friends in the LGBTQ+ community.

In recent times, some groups have tried to make the concept of diversity a bad thing. And we don't understand that because having diverse people come together is what makes the world amazing! We will continue to welcome, support and embrace diversity. Regardless of orientation, gender, the color of someone's skin or their cultural background, every person is worthy of dignity and human rights.
